Okay I upvoted this meme however, it is a little misleading. Thalidomide was not Approved by the FDA until 1989 and only under the strictest guidelines for leprosy and multiple myeloma. It was used in the US on an unregulated test bases, but was more widely used in Europe. Food and drinks even junk foods like twinkies, cheetos are not subjected to the same testing standards as Drugs are supposed to be.
