Did you blot out "AIDS Belt"?
The Bible Belt also has the highest rate of the disease due to stigma and denial and thus less utilization of protection and treatment, and I see a line in there missing...

That "Bible belt" has to be the most arbitrary thing I've ever seen. What on earth possibly defines it?

I grew up in the south and travel through it often. Bible Belt is wholly accurate. It is how they see themselves, God’s chosen people.

There are small towns that have dozens of churches and one stop light. Only positive development I have seen is most of these towns all now have Mexican restaurants and they out number the bbq joints three to one. Hard to hate the people that make your favorite food. Not impossible, but harder.

A lot of small towns have been dying, youth moving elsewhere for job oppurtunities.
Many have gotten a revival due to immigration, Mexicans being a large part of this.
In fact, the Great Recession and deportation of illegal aliens has affected the trend in many areas, shrinking the influx. The Covid Pandemic hasn't helped either, as temporary workers ceased migrating from town to town...

Took a drive through western NC and into Tennessee. The was a church on every corner and seriously seven or eight Mexican restaurants in every town. Last time I went through that area it was nothing, but bbq joints.

Now I love me some good bbq, but I love good Mexican food more. The more authentic, the better. (Like the Chinese food I had in China was soooo much better than the “Chinese” food we eat here)

I live in Montana, so BBQ reigns supreme. That said, I'll never complain if Mexican or our terribly-unhealthy-but-delicious Chinese-American food is on the menu. Haha.

I used to live in Texas and there was only a church every 20-50 miles. I moved to Idaho... Holy scrap, every neighborhood is a new stake.

Btw Mexican is da bomb and bbq is a close second😂

Jkjk I wuv bbq and Mexican equally

Having lived somewhere in this area my entire life, and comparing it with my travels elsewhere in the country, I can attest this is accurate.

Essentially this area is a hub of deeply conservative evangelicalism. This “piety,” however, masks a lot of selfishness, Karenism, and inattention to real social problems. The evident hypocrisy ends up driving a lot of reasonable people away from Christianity.

Either way, since I'm Catholic it's just a bunch of Prots anyhow.

It's still relatively the same, Catholics got the same issues elsewhere

That's an absurdly false generalization, just like saying all Muslims are violent extremists. Sheesh.
