Yeah, false generalization fallacy right there. SOME owned slaves, but others vehemently opposed the practice. SOME argued that only men should vote, but others clearly thought otherwise.

No duh Franklin owned slaves. I never said he didn't. What I said was that, since not all did and some opposed it (as you acknowledge), then we can't pretend slavery was considered something upon which the nation should be founded. That's BS. It was an ugly reality that had to be factored into compromises between the states. The choice was either have a nation now and work to improve it down the road or have no nation and render the entire War for Independence moot.

As far as the women's suffrage movement, it had its roots in the 1780's-90's. Given many of the Founders were in the odd-and-hypocritical, "own-slaves-but-supported-ending-it" basket, it is no stretch to assume many would also support equal rights for women in the civil sphere entirely.
