Reagan supplied the muahajadeen, which is different from the taliban, but might be close enough for horseshoes.

Actually the Taliban were only about 40% of the Muahajadeen and are almost exclusivly Pashtuns. Tajiks,Hazaras and Uzbeks made up the other 60% and after the fall of the soviets fought the Tailban to prevent them from replacing the soviets as the local overloard.
