Damn, that's a list of criminals with Spanish surnames? So people with them names commit crimes also? Astounding.

Every ethnicity commit crimes but whites that do never seem to be labeled as black or Hispanic. I believe in some counties they only have the option of listing them as white or black but I could have that wrong.

For census identifcation and whatnot, "Hispanic" started getting used as a category (Federal level, at least) under Nixon, in 74. Before that they used to list them as "white."

I heard once a lot of Mexicans that we would identify as "Mesitzo" call themselves "white," hence them names. If such is the case, it would probably be for other Latin countries as well.
