It has a lot to do with the concept of "Free Will".

That’s like saying if Americans loved burgers then we would sentence criminals to McDonald’s.

Because nations that force people to attend church are mostly Muslim.

Sorry if my snarky comment was confusing. It was at the same level of ridiculous as the meme - although there is an element of truth to it. Unlike America, where we actually have freedom to practice the religion of our choice, countries like Iran, Afghanistan and Turkey pretty much require their people to practice only the Islam religion.
So, in light of the meme that suggests America should require criminals to practice Christianity as punishment, that type of thing resembles Muslim nations.

Which is why I used the term “resembles”. Christians don’t require you to attend worship services every week either.

The head in the sand meme is because modda ignored the references I cited to back up my assertion.

Hey, that's not really fair. Most Islamic countries don't have an official policy of only Islam being practiced. Official not always being the last word, obviously.
2 ups, 3y
“Official” being the key word. I wonder how many Christian women feel safe in public not wearing a burka and wearing a cross on a necklace is plain sight. Do you think the laws there would protect them?

No, you didn't.

I didn’t say they were required to convert to Islam. They just aren’t allowed to freely practice any other religion.

It’s not *my* assertion. Sure, there are people of all faiths but they are not allowed to practice their faith freely.

Way awesome how you altered your assertion.

I don't do links.

All those countries have different religions and always have since their inceptions.

Turkey persecuted Armenians in that Holocaust, but guess what? They still have Christians, as well as those of other faiths, including Christians since before the fall of Constantinople.

Iran still has some Zoroastrians (many were driven out when Arab Muslims invaded) which gave us the concept of one God. It still has Jews - the second largest population outside of Israel. While some of them have gotten heat lately on suspicion (with rare exception, basically unfounded by the lunatic regime) that they might be agents of Israel, they, like Iranian Christians - which includes the largest population of Armenians outside of that country since they fled to Iran to escape the aforementioned Turkish persecution a century ago - are allowed to freely practice their faiths. In fact, while Islamic Iranians are not permitted to purchase or make wine, etc (which many produce in sercret at home), Iranian Jews and Christians are allowed to do both, as it is part of their religious customs.
While Iran is majority Shia, it has a Sunni Arab minority as well.

Afghanistan has its share of religions, and it is only under the threat of the Taliban that they have met hostility, as has everyone else in that country under those psychos.

Try again.

You really need to get help on your reading comprehension, or lack there of. Let me point it out for you since you obviously can’t see for yourself.

“…Sure, there are people of all faiths but they are NOT ALLOWED TO PRACTICE THEIR FAITH FREELY."

“… Unlike America, where we actually have FREEDOM TO PRACTICE THE RELIGION OF OUR CHOICE, countries like Iran, Afghanistan and Turkey pretty much require their people to PRACTICE ONLY THE RELIGION OF ISLAM."

So, I didn’t “alter” my assertion.

If you have to practice your religion in secret and risk hostility for doing so, you’re not practicing freely. Get it?

Yemen is 99% Muslim and officially you can practice other faiths, but can one really? I don't live there but I wonder.

I know someone who did live in Yemen years ago before it became as hostile to Americans as it is now. She read scriptures at home but wasn’t able to attend any Christian religious service because there weren’t any.

Muslims will only tolerate other religions until it's no longer required to. Not all, of course. But especially the ones not in a more tolerant western society. Islam does mean submission

One more time since you didn't read this before - mind you, this was off the top of my head, non of which you countered because you can't:

Let's stop wasting my time with the purified ignorance you keep spouting, shall we?

You’re under the delusion that I’m saying only Muslims LIVE in those countries. Maybe you should actually try reading and comprehending rather than arguing about something I never claimed.

In Iran, The constitution states that Ja’afari (Twelver) Shia Islam is the official state religion. It provides that “other Islamic denominations are to be accorded full respect” and officially recognizes only three non-Islamic religious groups, Zoroastrians, Christians, and Jews, as religious minorities. Although the constitution protects the rights of members of these three religions to practice freely, the government imposed legal restrictions on proselytizing and regularly arrests members of the Zoroastrian and Christian communities for practicing their religion. The government regularly vilifies Judaism.

In Afghanistan, The Constitution proclaims that "followers of other religions are free to exercise their faith and perform their religious rites within the limits of the provisions of law." However, it also states that Islam is the "religion of the state" and that "no law can be contrary to the beliefs and provisions of the sacred religion of Islam." The right to religious freedom was not respected in practice. Years of Taliban rule and weak democratic institutions have contributed to intolerance manifested in acts of harassment and violence against reform-minded Muslims and religious minorities.

In Turkey, 99 percent of the population is Muslim. The constitution defines the country as a secular state. It provides for freedom of conscience, religious belief, conviction, expression, and worship and prohibits discrimination based on religious grounds. In 2019 the government continued to limit the rights of non-Muslim religious minorities, especially those not recognized under the government’s interpretation of the 1923 Lausanne Treaty, which includes only Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Christians, Jews, and Greek Orthodox Christians. The government continued to restrict efforts of minority religious groups to train their clergy. Religious minorities reported difficulties opening or operating houses of worship; resolving land and property disputes and legal challenges of churches whose lands the government previously expropriated; operating or opening houses of worship; and obtaining exemptions from mandatory religion classes in schools.

So, yes, there are people from other religions living there but they can’t freely practice their faith.

btw, tl;dr

It is proper to cite your source when copypasting.
0 ups, 3y
I did cite them several comments ago. If you actually looked at them you’d know that.

BTW, if you’re going to criticize others for not citing their source, you better cite the ones you copied and pasted yourself. Off the top of your head . . . 😁😂😆🤣 that’s funny.
