I like to point out to the "buh buh but history!" people, is that the Guardians started out being called The Rustlers. Then became the Lake Shores. And were the Naps. And then The Blue Birds.
They were also at various times the Spiders, Broncos and Forest City.
The Yankees weren't always the Yankees and the Dodgers weren't always the Dodgers.
So why get triggered over a name change, eh?
I don't care if they changed it but I never thought of Indians as racist. That was my high school's (and still is) mascot too. I was definitely in favor of getting rid of the Redskins but I suppose I'm just ignorant about what's wrong with the word Indian.
A certain baseball team has renamed
itself the Cleveland Guardians after statues the city is known for. The only thing better than the abandonment of an offensive name is watching every racist in America howling about it.
