Yep . . . and the irony is that female conservatives warned radical and rage-filled feminists about just this (plus also unisex restrooms) decades ago and at that time the radical feminists accused conservatives of being paranoid and claimed that never in a million years would anyone even propose such a legislative bill. Ooops!

Feminist - "Women should be able to fight on the front lines!"
Me - "Research what male US POWs have gone through during their captivity. That alone is reason not to let women get that close to the battlefield."
Feminist - "SHUT UP YOU SEXIST PIG!"

The torture of choice visited upon women by the Japanese to the Serbs to ISIL was much more than that.

And while female soldiers from Israel to the Kurds have shown they are most capable, what they could face if captured is of concern, and can have an effect on male soldiers fighting by their sides as they worry about by the potential dangers their fellow soldiers risk.

On the other hand, male soldiers are also at risk and have endured the most heinous of tortures as well, so basically, same difference.

Perhaps, but knowing what happens in prison - what inmates will do to each other, or the case of NYPD and Abner Louima, or another where a bunch of youths had a chance encounter with two Mexicans in the woods a decade ago or so in Westchester and what they did left one dead and the other permanently physically affected in a way I will not repeat - just typing this hurts.

The capacity for people to do the unimaginable to each other is astounding, the limits seemingly nonexistent once they get started.

Not saying it wouldn't be more for women, just that people are really sick.

Finally, cause if women are the same as men, and deserve all the same rights, means all the same troubles too, like registering for the Draft.

how about no draft at all? would allow the us to sit the f**k down and talk about the real problems more

Cool story. The Conscription Act hasn't been enforced in something like forty years, though, so literally nobody cares.

About the only consequence to not registering is that you won't be eligible for federal jobs or contractors that supply good or services to the feds.

I agree that the system is jacked up. I was serving for three years and getting notices in the mail to renew my registration. I'm like dude, I can only sign my life away once.

If required to register with Selective Service, failure to register is a felony punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or 5 years imprisonment. Also, a person who knowingly counsels, aids, or abets another to fail to comply with the registration requirement is subject to the same penalties.

Yes, there's that too, but I might actually give the point to antithesis here (as much as that pains me) - to his point, has anyone ever been prosecuted for not registering?

I think that you're more likely to lose a job for not registering, I've seen the question on job applications "Have you registered with selective service (if required)?" Now, whether the companies actually follow up on that and verify your answer is another question, but they can tell the government that they are asking the question.

Also, it's pretty much a moot point since we're all registered if we're over 18 and have a drivers license. The only people that aren't registered are those that don't get a drivers license AND go out of their way to not register.

You are probably right too. I grew up in the 80s and had to register when I turned 18 and was convinced if I didn't do it I would be sent to Federal Prison (they probably would have back then) but I also was enlisted in the Army before my 18th birthday and still had to register.
