I dunno... I view "Leftists" as simply an apt, pejorative meme of a term used to describe "Progressives". When Progressives openly say they're Marxist... how much more left is there to go at that point?
Leftists are totalitarian and will do anything to win. Them lie, cheat, steal, distort the meaning of words, and call themselves anything but what they are. There are some well meaning Marxists, there are no well meaning leftists
Ahh... but totalitarians can be seen on both sides of the spectrum; it isn't unique to one side or the other. There are also well meaning leftists... in fact, much of the road to Hell we're on is paved with their good intentions.
I maintain that "Progressives" and their politics/policies are a blight on American culture and values. Besides, the term "Leftist" is too vague... everyone on the left can be called such and the mouth-frothing insanity doesn't apply to all of them equally. Maybe we should just simply rebrand the "Progressives" to what they actually are... start calling them "Regressives"... though that will likely come off as too much of an insult and make getting a point across harder.
