Infrastructure means building for the future, not the past (Nice job, Ike!)

Infrastructure means building for the future, not the past (Nice job, Ike!) | President Eisenhower wants a "grand plan for a properly articulated (highway) system that solves the problems of speedy, safe, transcontinental travel - intercity transportation - access highways - and farm-to-farm movements - metropolitan area congestion -bottlenecks - and parking". That was 1955 planning for 1995. Now we should ask: What will make us safer, richer and happier in 2051? | image tagged in infrastructure, build, roads, future, plan | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

Freedom, morality and much, much, much less government. That will make all Americans more prosperous. That's the key to making any nation prosperous it the individual level.

You like your freeways with paving on them? Because that's what Big Government did in Eisenhower's time. Clean water, paved roads, broadband access -- all those things make us more prosperous AND are the province of Big Government.

The reason why private businesses don't take care of clean water or paved roads is because the government forbids that and a lot of other things. If a private business were allowed to take care of that stuff it would be done with better quality and lower cost. Governments have never been incentivized to keep costs down. If something ends up costing more they just raise taxes. That would make us even more prosperous.

Broadband internet is NOT provided by the government. It never was. It is 100% private businesses.

Prosperity NEVER comes through the government, it comes in spite of government. Governments, all governments are only good at 3 things, killing, stealing and enslaving. After that they completely suck. They costs us far too much.

Until the leaders of private industry build infrastructure and collude with each other to raise prices, but, since the infrastructure has an impossible price tag for most of us, this is just another way for the rich to become richer.

Quite a leap from "highway system" to what will make "you" happy in 2051.

But that's the point. Eisenhower looked at the country and saw that the roads were standing in the way of commerce, free travel, and military response to threats. It was a reading of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" in a way that the Founding Fathers could not have imagined any more than they imagined the internet.

And his bet paid off.

Well, the Senators many of those Red States sent certainly don't want them to have it . . . weird, that.

And dude, spelling counts. Censor connects all the way back to the Republic of Rome. It doesn't only suggest censorship, but also the oversight of the most senior and trusted (and judgmentally censorious). -- Getting that detail right or wrong says quite a lot of your understanding of the structure and history of our government.
