Kind of like if we had universal healthcare, Obamacare wouldn't have been such a disaster lol.

No the left is just incompetent and doesn't understand cause and effect.
3 ups, 3y
While I agree they are incompetent and don’t understand cause and effect, I also believe their leadership is elitist and believes they are superior
To the dumb American peasants who they need to tell what to do.

Especially since she owns stock in an electric car company.

Captain Picard Facepalm Meme | DID SHE REALLY SAY THAT? | image tagged in memes, captain picard facepalm | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
WOULDN'T SURPRISE ME :0)

Yes she did. Or do you mean Marie Antoinette? There is debate that she never actually said that.

Well, maybe if electric cars were made more affordable for poor working class shmucks like me, we’d consider switching to electric.
2 ups, 3y,

Not me, I live in Cali and electricity ain’t much cheaper than gas and there’s already a sufficient shortage for power to go out several times each summer.

That sucks, sorry to hear that. Have you considered moving to a red state? :(

Everybody has, but it’s my home and I have trouble with cutting and running. There’s more Republican voters in California than Texas. So some local communities are still sane but statewide the communists are in charge.

I mean...she's not wrong...but that's such a gross oversimplification of the issue.

It assumes that people have the financial freedom to just buy a new electric car to avoid the energy shortage.

Or that it's better to save a few emissions than put a pump station out of business, for example.

Charging an electric car with a fossil fuel driven electric plant does almost nothing to tomcorrect climate change. And how many electric tanks and aircraft does the US military have?

There are plenty of great ways to generate lots of clean power, many of which are in use. Don't make the mistaken assumption that all electricity is generated via fossil fuel.

I'm not sure why we've not gone largely nuclear yet, for example. This ain't the 50's; reactors are safe, we can dispose of the waste effectively, and overall it's far more efficient for generating large amounts of power safely. There are also some really neat new hydrogen plants that can refine hydrogen from water via hydrolysis. You could then use this hydrogen as a fuel itself or burn it for electricity. Either way it's very clean and very efficient.

And you and I both know the U.S military doesn't use electric engines in its vehicles because the technology to effectively power them simply does not exist. Tesla's aren't tanks. Tanks need absurd amounts of power to both simply move the massive vehicle and power an ever growing suite of onboard systems. Aircraft are even more demanding in these regards. They'll go electric one day, but most definitely not today.

Those options do exist, but as of 2019, the US still got 80% of its electricity from fossil fuels, according to eia.gov.

Well no kidding...we're still developing the technology (outside of nuclear, but that's not used more commonly because of misplaced fears by uninformed idiots).

Again, as electricity and hydrogen continue to become more efficient and more viable when compared to traditional gasoline, they will become more commonplace. This is just the basic reality of the situation. Can't run when you've barely learned to walk.

I wonder if solar powered cars are a thing. If they are, they’re probably expensive too.

Wait till the power grid goes down like it does every summer in Cali.
3 ups, 3y,

Well if they were successful with the pipeline, why wouldn't the grid be next? Then she'll telling us that it wouldn't a problem if we all had solar cells on our roofs.

Exactly
0 ups, 3y,

And yet unless you're wired into an off grid system, solar panels get wired to feed into the grid and supply to the system your excess power consumption which you aren't using or aren't storing.
This means when the grid fails it also shuts your generation down at the same time as the grid. Meaning of course that you're in the same boat as those without solar panels. Kind of piss weak I think.
1 up, 3y
Yup, they hate true independence that’s why the power companies make sure most people can’t store any power and they can try to suck up “extra” power. Then they put you on a baseline and suck up all the rest. You’ll soon be looking at having power for limited periods at a time and their control Is complete.

She was an elitist and arrogant about the food shortage in France at the time. Even though history now saysshe likely never said it and it was a leftist lie to make her look bad. Leftists have been doing that forever.

It still represents her. And besides, you just put that she said it, and she was still a horrible person.
2 ups, 3y,

So I said it because it’s a quote that she is famous for and it fit my purposes. There is debate among scholars that she ever said it and it was something made up after she was executed to justify it. By most accounts she wasn’t a horrible person and you are a child playing at adult.

Yeah, but he was pretty pathetic as a leader...more interested in playing with his clocks and locks than trying to deal with crises like the food shortage and the deep winter. Definitely a sad time in French history.
