LOL!! Norway is NOT socialist...they use money...they believe in private property...they have a government.

If you're referring to healthcare then I hate to break it to you; single-payer healthcare is NOT socialism...it's just another way to provide healthcare.

Firstly, you don't know whether I'm a Republican or not. I could be a moderate Democrat, or a Libertarian, or an Independent. Please don't make unfounded assumptions (though I'll happily tell you if you ask nicely.)

Now to business: Name a single aspect of Norway's financial, governmental, or economic structure that matches up with socialism as Karl Marx envisioned.

No problem, I got what you meant and am just giving you grief because people here can be horridly annoying about taking some of what you say at face value, formulating an entire profile of you about that, and then choosing to ignore other stuff you say in your own defense...

To answer, I am an unregistered moderate independent and vary by issue. When it comes to general government I'm definitely a, "We need a strong military, basic welfare and civil services, and little else." conservative, but when it comes to climate or a lot of social values I'm very much a liberal. Anything else I try to take issue by issue, which means I wind up typing a LOT of long-winded explanations here...lol

To your point: I can't find anything about Norway that is actually socialist though. They're definitely more progressive than we here in America, but that's not saying much; your average American liberal is still pretty conservative by world standards. Oh yeah, that article is cool.Well, I do support some forms of socialism. Like for instance, red Vienna. I do think Norway does have a better government, socialism or no.
Anyways, thanks for responding. I’m not much of a socialist, I just enjoy parts of it. For instance, I don’t like the green new deal. I like some of what it does, but it’s just too expensive and should include hydro.

I have to read up on Red Vienna before I make an assessment on it, so you'll forgive me if I don't respond to that for a couple of days (or forget, just a forewarning, if I do I apologize).

Cool fact about Austria though!! The Soviets abandoned it after a massive campaign of Rosaries was prayed by its citizens (there was no other real reason for the U.S.S.R to withdraw from such a strategically located country, as it was very weak and not troublesome from a control standpoint). I'm Roman Catholic myself, so it's just a neat historical fact out of which I get a kick.

I definitely prefer capitalism to socialism. Like I said before, I do not in any way want to hurt the environment or deprive people of basic necessities, so I absolutely support basic welfare and comprehensive environmental protections. I just don't want it accompanied by needless tax hikes or increases in government bureaucracy. We've become the most powerful nation on earth through capitalism, all we need to do is better focus the money we do make into actually effective programs.

You'll find that all of the things they do in Scandinavian countries, the GOP has labeled SOCIALISM!!!!!!! here in the US.

Like universal healthcare. Collective bargaining. And a comprehensive social safety net.
