Good for them. I don't like or agree with VERITAS at all, but I welcome the end of defamation wherever it raises its ugly head. Bonus points for sticking it to the woke Times.

Perry Mason | At this point, the "win" is allowing the lawsuit to go forward. Which party will ultimately prevail in court remains to be seen. | image tagged in perry mason | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

No, I was mistaken. They've been allowed to go on with the case. Still a reason to celebrate. they have a good case.

It sounds as though they beat a motion to dismiss. That is a win.

This is my only account, but you can tell yourself whatever you want if it makes you feel more secure. And you're about to lose your main account. You were foolish to let the mask slip like that. The mods have been notified.

It's a fascinating area of the law!

https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/20518694-order_denying_motion_to_dismiss

Here is most recent order I could find, dated March 18, 2021: I assume it's the case development your meme references, though feel free to correct me.

The judge ruled in favor of Project Veritas on a Motion to Dismiss filed by the NYT; however, that is just an early case motion and doesn't mean that the plaintiff's lawsuit will prevail. Just means that the lawsuit *could* prevail in the future: After discovery, witness depositions, a trial, etc. This is a "win" for plaintiffs, perhaps, but it's not THE "win".

tl;dr Project Veritas has a legally viable claim but still has to prove it.
