Actually - morality was a combination of divine will ( either God or King ) that laid out laws for people to follow. The baseline for modern morality, say for Americans, Is based in Judeo- Christian law. Morality did not exist with primitive man, when we were in tribes murder, rape , and all the other things we find now as abhorrent were allowed, not only allowed but accepted. Morality is directly linked to religion, As a general rule, however, the person who truly believes in God, and who has some sense of the moral principles set forth in the Bible, is a better person. He is less likely to be feared in the neighborhood, and is more likely to be a savoring influence in his community - IDK, Maybe , people could have morals without a guiding force .. but looking at primitive man who had no morals.. they had no guiding force, no God, No supreme being to show them right from wrong, So, can we really say that morality simply evolved with in the human brain, with no influence?
