correction 97.5%. There was no lockdown for the Spanish flu (98% survival rate) and it killed about 30 million people.

Respectfully DT...It seems that about 2% of the total world population died during the Spanish flu, depending on the source. For COVID and the Spanish flu to be comparable based on total world population today, we would need to lose 2% of 7.8 billion people or 156 million people. The survival rate was 98% of the world NOT 98% of those that caught the bug. I am pretty sure this is not about a virus.

You might want to adjust your math. Spanish flu killed fifty million, not thirty.

50 milllion of 103 million US citizens got Spanish flu. About 650,000 died of it. Worldwide deaths may be around 50 million?

You never once said we were speaking about the U.S alone, so there was no reason for me to assume that was the case.

And Covid has killed about 2 million people in a Year and 1/4 (December 2019) compared to Spanish Flu in one year

Because of lockdown. If there was no lockdown there would be a similar death rate

Don't forget the world population today is about 7.8 billion compared to 1.8 billion in 1918. I am not sure comparing the Spanish flu to COVID really makes much sense.

It infected 500m people and killed 50m people (so 1/10th)
Covid infected 100m people and killed 2m people (so 1/50th)

Yes and population density doesn't even compare from then to now which only exacerbates epidemics.

Exactly! If COVID compared to the Spanish Flu, shouldn't we have seen dozens of events (hundreds worldwide) pre lockdown where 50,000 people were at a sporting event or concert with 5,000 getting sick and 500 dying? How about Sturgis, Trump rallies and spring break 2020 where they were labeled "super spreaders"? Now let's talk about densely populated urban centers that made 1918 cities look rural by today's standard? If you critically think this it does not add up. I think we are probably seeing an economic and cultural reset.
