For conservatives out there that actually care about the truth and not some narrative, this meme doesn't reference you. | LYING CONSERVATIVES: THE WIND TURBINES IN TEXAS FROZE UP AND STOPPED GENERATING ELECTRICITY! THE WIND TURBINES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THE BLACKOUTS IN TEXAS! Me: Hmm, interesting. Looks like Texas doesn't rely as heavily on renewables as they do fossil fuels. And you completely dismissed the weatherizing, or lack thereof, of the wind turbines. Once again, cherry picking whatever "truth" fits your narrative and throwing out inconvenient things like facts. | image tagged in wind turbines, blank white template | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

It's a lot colder in the upper Midwest than it is in Texas and our wind turbines didn't freeze up.

True. The turbines are working fine in other cold-weather locations.

I read that while wind turbines only make up 25 or 30 % of the TX grid, of the grid sectors that lost power,40% were powered by wind turbines. But yes, lack of winteraztion played a huge role. I read that Ercot didn't do inspections of plants and turbines for winterazation due to the pandemic.

FROM THE ENERGY RELIABILITY COUNCIL OF TEXAS WIND PRODUCED 9% OF HOURLY EXPECTED CAPACITY | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Facts like actual data from ERCOT? When an energy producer is expected to produce a certain amount, but only produces 9% of that amount - the difference is made up by rolling blackouts.

Also straight from the horse's mouth:

ERCOT - the organization that actually manages power in Texas.

The Texas Tribune - a liberal rag that only Austinites read

The Texas Tribune is closer to the horses ass than its mouth.

Tell me, would you have accepted any news source that wasn't on the right?

Why would I accept a news source over the organization that actually manages the state electric grid?

I don't think you understand what "the horses mouth" actually means.

Well I do know that ERCOT, like any other organization, sends out press releases. And since you're so adamant about the source being ERCOT themselves, there's one straight from their own website.

http://www.ercot.com/news/releases/show/225369

Of special note is the following, directly quoted from the same source:
"As of 9 a.m., approximately 46,000 MW of generation has been forced off the system during this extreme winter weather event. Of that, 28,000 MW is thermal and 18,000 MW is wind and solar."

So 40% of the offlined power is wind and solar. Thank you for proving your own meme wrong.

So most of the offlined power is fossil fuels, and again, you have put your own spin on the facts to fit your narrative. Thank you for proving my meme correct.

40% of the power loss is caused by a 30% chunk of the electric providers. Meanwhile 60% is being caused by the other 70%. What that means is the wind and solar are failing at a higher rate than the rest.

Because the organization will tell you only what they want you to know.

"Because the organization will tell you only what they want you to know."

Conspiracy theorists: "Then that means Dominion is lying about voter fraud!"

Me: <sigh>

So, you can't trust the facts from ERCOT since they disagree with your narrative, but you are happy to trust a source that gives no evidence but what politicians say?
