There would have been no point to impeach Nixon though. He had already willingly resigned and was out of office so he couldn't cause anymore trouble. Trump never resigned and impeaching him was meant to make it so he couldn't run again and possibly cause more damage.
If a President resigns they can't really be impeached. Trump however did not resign. I'm saying you can't really compare the 2 because the situation were both very different.
