They make it sound like he's being impeached for some trivial thing, when it is so egregious. I would hope that inciting insurrection is the rare exception, so how does that make impeachment the norm?
Former President Bill Clinton was never a senator.
He was impeached for lying about cheating on his wife, Hillary Clinton, with Monica Lewinsky. The Senate found it to not meet the High Crimes & Misdemeanors standard and acquitted him.
Muslim women, children, and men are being “re-educated” in “re-education” camps right now, people are being killed for speaking out against the Chinese government, and China is also becoming a suervillian. But nope, trump is the problem.
On one hand I agree with you, it would have been better to have ignored this ridiculous man from the beginning. On the other hand, the United States is still the most powerful country in the world, and we hold ourselves up as an example of Democracy to the rest of the world. Donald Trump incited an insurrection on the Capitol and therefore the institution of Democracy. This is worthy of attention.
That is a good thing of course if you are outraged about the treatment of the Uyghurs among others in China. It is hard to be a moral compass for the rest of the world when your own house is not in order.
