Trump shouldn't be blamed for extremists storming the capitol. He never explicitly called for violence, so he shouldn't be taking blame for it. Both sides have some radical supporters that will do terrible things, which neither party would support. The radicals do not speak for conservatives, Trump, or the Republican party.

Everyone saw the speech he gave and this is not up for discussion. Twitter doesn't want to be used for this anymore. And that is completely their own decision to make. Y'all were lucky Twitter put up with your shit for even this long.

So we are not allowed to hear the sitting president of the united states? And you all call HIM a threat to democracy!?

And impeach him again for good measure.

I don't even know what sanctions you can do to a president who's two weeks away from retirement.

Well, Ilhan Omar's already drafting articles of impeachment so....

And there's still that Georgia call that could be subject to state charges so....

My take on it. There would be a lot of benefits to it and no downsides I can think of.

Congress would have to act swiftly, so doubtful, but even some Republicans are getting fed up. McConnell who was Trump’s lackey during impeachment #1 rebuked him strongly today. So, maybe.

Impeachment: lose it or lose it. If this conduct isn’t impeachment-worthy then it’s hard to say what would be or why we’d ever bother to use or discuss it again.

I mean, yes, IF in a world where Congress can hash this out in a week, it sends the message that we're not going to tolerate something like this. It's too late nip it in the bud but we can stop it from getting worse.

HAVING SAID THAT, when legally the only punishment we can give to a president is that we're ending his presidency a week early...

I mean everyone is in town already for certification, so call a snap impeachment based on simple articles that can be drafted overnight. No investigations or subpoenas required. Everyone in Congress was in the go***mn room where it happened, literally.

If Congress is willing to tolerate a damn riotous assault on their own chambers directly instigated by a sitting, LAME-DUCK President (I.e. no political future or possibility to retaliate against his own party), then impeachment as an actual constitutional tool is even more dead than I thought it was after last year’s failed impeachment.

I could not imagine any conditions more worthy or favorable to impeachment. Take this step and it will help turn the page on Trumpism, don’t take it and Trump gets to walk away on his own terms.

The rioters should be arrested and held responsible for their insurrection. However, Trump didn't call for violence. Unless someone directly calls for violence, they shouldn't be prosecuted for that voilence

Maybe it's because I've always been resigned to that last sentence, which, I have to say, for my money, was always going to be how this ended.

Next time. Next week. The next lawsuit. The next batch of evidence. The new video. The new witnesses.

F**k your attitude.

Ah yes, the Capitol Hill riots weren't fascist, but when twitter suspends the guy who encouraged and incited the riots, that's where I draw the line.

The rioters were extremists that don't speak for conservatives or Trump. While they were angry because Trump said it was stolen, he did not intend violence. He called in the National guard once they got violent, and told the rioters to go home in peace.

1. 45% of trump supporters actively support the capitol riots. That’s extraordinarily concerning.

2. He knew his audience, and he knew exactly what he was doing.

3. He was initially hesitant in calling the national guard and only did after a dangerously long delay.

4. He also said he “loved them” too, after they breached the capitol. If he truly wanted to condemn them, he wouldn’t have said that.

Where does that 45% statistic come from?
