It's actually morally disgusting to me how you view covid. It's actually genuinely callous and abhorrent.
1. For the 10 trillionth time, COVID-19 IS MUCH DEADLIER THAN THE FLU. For multiples reasons. Cut it out with this bullshit narrative hand fed to you by armchair idiots.
a. The flu in the 2019-2020 season killed between 24,000-62,000 people in the US as compared to covid-19 which has killed 324,000 and counting. You can't sit here and tell me that the flu is just a "severe flu season." Frankly, what you said is insulting to the thousands who had family members who died of covid-19 and to the thousands of health workers working to the brink to treat covid patients.
b. Just because you didn't die from covid, doesn't mean you don't have long lasting, deleterious side effects. You are at a higher risk of 17 health conditions as compared to the flu.
c. The hospitalization rate of covid is much higher than the flu, and once you're in the hospital, you're 5 times more likely to die.
d. Covid has a higher transmission rate, case fatality ratio, infection fatality ratio, mortality rate than the flu.
e. Covid has a longer incubation period than the flu.
f. All of this data is happening while hospitals haven't been overrun with covid patients yet. When that happens, which will be very soon, expect the death rate to be much higher.
g. There are more super-spreader events for covid than for the flu.
2. Herd immunity is extraordinarily stupid and sociopathic, also for multiple reasons.
a. If you just let the virus rip, it's inevitable that people will end up in the hospital, overrunning it, and massively increasing death rates. This would be a humanitarian failure that would devastate the US and make it a worldwide embarrassment. Anyone with a brain would oppose this.
b. 30-40% of Americans have comorbidities, making them especially high risk for covid, which will be very bad in a herd immunity situation.
c. You can get reinfected.
d. Again, there are myriad of long lasting, chronic conditions that follow a covid illness.
e. The financial harm with allowing the virus to rip would be enormous, considering the US has such a dogshit healthcare system.
f. WE ALREADY HAVE VACCINES. (I know you're a conspiracy theorist who listens to Alex Jones so it's probably futile to say this you anyway)
