Have you ever had someone close to you do because of covid? If so, were they old? Even ever smart person knows the answer to the last question, its yes

I lost two friends, both 40-ish die of COVID in June. My best friend contracted it and is now dealing with serious kidney issues because apparently taking ibuprofen while infected is a major no-no...none had any underlying issues.

At the company, I work for, 13 family members of people I work with died during the months of April and May...one who was 42 and one who was 55, no underlying issues.

So it would seem that a smart person had best do their f**king homework before they decide to condescend to make an asinine statement like that.

Kindly, f**k off.

Strange, it is nearly impossible for that situation to happen if they had nothing that could increase their chance of death from covid, I say that because it is basically just the cold, it has almost only the symptoms of it, and those symptoms dont usually kill people by themselves

You’re a c**t.

Dang man. Thats harsh. I'm really sorry for your losses.
Annoying how people think that since it never happened to them it does not exist. Smh....its like saying bombs don't exist becuase they have never seen them. Covid is real. It's not going to go away until people like ItSeemsTheFloorHereisMadeOfFloor suck it up and go inside.

I know it exists, I just don't believe it is that deadly

Actually I have survived Covid and I only know 2 people who have gotten it. We know how to smartly protect ourselves from it. I only got it because we had to go to the hospital one day.
0 ups, 4y
Sorry for your losses. Statistically that is incredible when, according to the CDC, about 80% have mild or no symptoms and the overall death rate is around 1%. They now say that they think there are 8 cases that were not tested for every one that was positive making the 1% far lower. The impact these lockdowns are going to have will make the cure far worse than the disease. Again, sorry for your losses. You should probably never walk into a casino.

I caught COVID-19 it’s was like a regular fever / cold I forget the difference between symptoms but it only lasted 3 days after testing positive

I had it back in April with no symptoms , I quarantined myself for a month until I got a negative test . Does that mean I'm immune now ?

Somewhat immune to it (as in you have less chance of catching it) meaning u don’t need to vaccine unless your immune system went down
[deleted]

However it works much like the flu or common cold. The immunity will last for a few months after which you can get it again. However you body produces memory cells so the next time you get it your body can fight it off better.

Some cases are like that but others are more serious, like ICU serious

Also my dad got sick from me and tested twice both negative
0 ups, 4y
Then idk. But dude some people who are older can die from it
0 ups, 4y
The COVID is still there people just know to quarantine if they have it. COVID doesn’t disappear because you didn’t get tested

The chart is dated March 9, 2020.

Reading is fundamental.

My mistake

I see franken30 already told you about the issue with that bar graph.

But anyways ya.... The current number of worldwide daily covid deaths is not 56.....

It is roughly 10,000.

This was when the country was not in lockdown. Read the date buddy.

Your statistics are dated March 9, 2020, prior to any of the lockdowns in the US and basically at the onset of the pandemic.

My chart is far more accurate and up to date. COVID-19 deaths have accounted for anywhere from 9% - 20% of the weekly deaths in the US since August.

Stop lying. Or at least be smart enough to drop the time stamps when you’re gaslighting. People who can read see through your bullshit.

I am well aware the photo I posted is from March. The meme is about the government exaggerating the virus, which they are. So the photo I posted is remembering how everyone went into panic earlier in the year and locked down over a virus that was only killing 56 people a day, yet not a peep about any of those other viruses. I had no intention of making people think that data is current. If I did, I would block out the text in the photo itself that says “as of march 9”. I’m not so stupid as to try to pass this off as today’s numbers

They locked down because they trying to prevent exactly what’s happening today: a 9/11’s worth of needless deaths every day. And because of chuckleheads like yourself who don’t give a damn about your fellow citizens and because you walk around as breathing incarnations of the Dunning-Kruger effect, the virus is on the verge of spiraling out of control.

Nice assumption, I always wear masks and haven’t been in person with any friends or family for 8 months so that nobody can accuse me of not caring. And lockdowns only actually work when a government has total control over their citizens, so unless we become a totalitarian nation like China the lockdowns will be ineffective and hurt people more.

Once again calm down. What have the lockdowns accomplished? Infections are almost as high as places with no lockdowns, only with them we destroy our own economy as a bonus. Right after the first lockdowns in April the US hit a 15% unemployment rate. California locked down, Texas never did. California’s infection rate is only 1% less than Texas at the cost of a 9.3 percent unemployment rate (as of October is the most recent data I could find.) Texas’ unemployment rate was at 6.9 percent (also October). California’s poverty rate is also 3% higher than Texas. The virus itself has a 0.26% death rate. Calm the hell down.

“Infections are almost as high as places with no lockdowns”

Based on what? Where? You’re aware that Sweden is abandoning the Swedish model because it’s been an abject failure?

“Blah blah blah Texas blah blah Cailifornia blah”

What?

Lockdowns wouldn’t be necessary if people followed the protocols, but too many people (like yourself, I’m sure) are too preoccupied with your freedums.

“The virus itself has a 0.26% death rate.”

I’m curious where you got your number. As of today, 16,549,366 Americans have been infected and 305,082 have died. Math says that’s 1.82% death rate (and 2.23% globally). None of this takes into consideration the long term health effects of those who survive the infection, which we won’t know for years.

And once again, lockdowns wouldn’t be necessary if knuckle-draggers were looking out and being responsible for their fellow man.

There are two ways of measuring the data. CFR and IFR. Those numbers go by cfr, but ifr is more accurate since Phd mathematicians know the number of infections is much higher than what we have testing for so they’ve calculated a better estimate of infections.

Exactly my point. People won’t follow lockdown orders so they accomplish nothing. In theory they would work but this is real life

So what you’re saying is since people won’t do the bare minimum, don’t enforce anything. If you were old enough to have kids, you’d be a terrible parent.

I’ll counter with “this is why we can’t have nice things.” Consider the lockdown a time out since people can’t behave.

Lockdowns don’t work? Tell that to NYC and Long Island last June. It’s precisely because of the lockdowns and people following the protocols that the curve was flattened.

ICUs throughout the country are packed to the gills. The national healthcare system is now going to be stretched to the breaking point and it sure seems like it’s by design. GOP leadership and Trump could’ve acted like elected leaders and enforced mandates that have already been tried and tested and proven to work. Instead, they chose to throw their hands in the air and abdicate their responsibilities to the people. They were too busy with the red herring they created with this election fraud BS to steal the election and consolidate power instead of concentrating on fixing the pandemic.

So that’s the bottom line. It’s about control and power. There have been many crisis in our nation’s history, during each one the government “temporarily” steps in to help. Of course they never give up that power afterward. We saw that after the civil war and the great depression. I think it’s a good idea to stop building more control for a second and backtrack to avoid the cliff we’re heading toward.
