And imagine their solution is enabling globalist elites to implement their socialist shared misery throughout the world.

But I'm sure you take no issue with the current capitalist policy of neoliberalism and globalization.

I support capitalism as it has proven to be the most productive most successful form of economy. I support the United States and its Constitution. Globalization is by its nature socialist and seeks to loot the US and impoverish it.

Do you have the slightest idea of what you're talking about? Transnational corporations are exploiting labor and resources of developing nations. They are being aided by the "free-market" prescriptions handed to these countries by the IMF and World Bank. That is the real looting being done.

And capitalism is not a success for the dispossessed working class, even in developed nations. Neoliberalism has resulted in greater gains for the wealthiest elites while the working class no longer makes enough to afford a living. It is a lie that capitalism is the most productive. We have so many wasteful sectors of the economy, just so capitalists may make a profit. The UK has some of the longest working hours and yet low levels of productivity. People are alienated from their labor.

Libertarian socialism.

Exactly, socialism is so much better. No it’s not. Name a success story? And don’t give me that Northern Europe crap they aren’t socialist. They are capitalists who tax at a higher rate to provide more services run by the government.

I would say the libertarian collectives in Spain during the Spanish Civil War. Peasants took ownership of their workplaces and socialized property, distributing and producing based on need and ability, respectively. Even nonanarchist observers were then impressed by the achievements of the collectives.

Small collectives in an agrarian society can be successful but as a rule for modern nations it’s a failure. England, Israel and India all dabbled in it and rejected it. Russia and China had to inject forms of capitalism to survive. It’s a pipe dream and brings only misery to all those who try it. See Venezuela.

Venezuela has nothing to do with libertarianism. Nor do Russia or China. We recognize that Marxist-Leninist states are doomed to fail, or at least prop up dictatorships.

And the collectives of Spain were no small scale operation, we’re talking 8 million people that lived in collectives. I believe Makhnovia (before the establishment of the soviet republic of Ukraine) was a population of 7 million. Again libertarian communism, under the protection of Nestor Makhno’s insurrectionary army.

So wildly successful? what happened? Where are these thriving collectives now?

Good idea! People might as well not buy or rent homes, or pursue higher education (you know, to get the high-paying jobs) or better yet not pay unforeseen emergency and medical costs. They can just opt out of it!

I don't think it matters where you live. The red states comprise some of the poorest states in the country, as well as the most uneducated. And just because you receive medical care does not prevent you from incurring medical debt, and everyone knows how costly medical care is in the U.S. Are you familiar with rent hikes? Or interest? Property taxes? The poor are being sucked dry by the capitalist class and the state, there is simply no denying this. Trickle down has failed.

You’re not listening to what I’m saying. I never said emergency rooms deny care. They are required by law to treat you. This does NOT PREVENT you from incurring debt based on something that was likely outside of your control.

Being a more productive worker, for the last 50 years, has not resulted in increased wages on average. If capitalists can get away with underpaying labor, they will, and they do. To be a more valuable employee you require skill and education, do you not? But you have to be able to afford this, and have ability (capitalism sucks for the disabled). At a bare minimum you must pay for food, water, shelter, clothing and taxes.

Have you not seen the President attack low-income housing? No matter what, you must submit yourself into servitude to afford necessities, you must pay rent and taxes. I don’t think 90% of Americans living paycheck to paycheck can simply be solved by relocating somewhere else. Lol.

Trickle-down and neoliberal economics were spearheaded by Reagan and Thatcher, and has resulted in globalization and privatization, union busting and declining or stagnant wages for the working class. But of course you’ve been taught to believe you’re responsible for these circumstances. You make your capitalist masters proud.

You mean to tell me if you can’t pay, they provide the care you need and the hospital foots the bill themselves?

How are people supposed to see an increase in their wages when unionization and labor rights are being suppressed? Bargaining rights and negotiations are under attack. Do you think Haitians earning 25 cents an hour are participating in the “free exchange of goods and services”? Hahahahaha.

I do currently have a job. And I don’t earn enough to provide for myself, especially while doing school. I’m also dealing with a lot of mental health issues right now which has affected work and school, and I have intense doubts about my future.

Degrees make a candidate more qualified and you know that. As for disabilities, we have a welfare state and social safety net constantly being gutted by liberals, and a system that determines your survival and value by your productivity.

I like how you suggest I suffer from a lack of world experience, and that these capitalist conditions are merely about discipline and the “real world”. Wake up, people can’t afford basic living anymore. We are creating the world’s first trillionaires while much of the world still lives in abject poverty. Profits are being made at the expense of people and the planet. And you defend it.

Don't waste your time on Timber.

Turns out this jackass is "from Canada."
www.treebuzz.com/forum/members/timber1972.11222/

He's just "a foreign shill pretending to be American." Those quotes are not mine but someone else who outed him and I clicked the links.

You are just feeding the troll.

He's not sincere about the debate. He's just "a self-loathing conservative Canadian" who "hates the socialism in his country" and is scapegoating you.

I included a link above to his real Canadian account above, and a screen capture from his Canadian forum.

He's playing out this "American fantasy kink" and you are his "sub for the day". Also not my quote but a good way of looking at this cretin.

Your argument is just an excuse to fuel his rage and you are enabling him. Do so at your own peril. He has no credibility with anything he says and likely is just copying and pasting what he finds online to sound smart and keep you hooked. You may as well be arguing with Norman Bate's mother or the voices in his head. A friendly FYI.
1 up, 4y
But he doesn't sound smart. He's just an angry asshole accusing me of lacking real-world experience, and attacking me for my past and upbringing and mental health. Typical conservative shit. This is why people oppose the capitalist/conservative way of life, it's "you're on your own", "punishment, not rehabilitation", "the rich earned their wealth, you're just a leech", "you deserve to struggle". There's a reason why this way of thinking is rejected outside of the western world.

I find that hard to believe when a third of Americans struggle with medical debt. Yes, Medicaid can cover those below the poverty line, but not all states adopted the ACA expansion of Medicare.

Unionization correlates to higher wages. Plus, unions protect and advocate on behalf of workers. Two-thirds of workers don’t request a raise themselves.

Nobody is worth 25 cents an hour. Wtf is wrong with you?

F**k you for suggesting my mental health correlates to my ideology. I have always been a libertarian, my life circumstances contributed to my SI and OCD.

I have real world experience. I’ve worked at jobs that offer just 20 minutes as a break for an 8 hour shift, and I was terminated for asking why we couldn’t sit while performing repetitious tasks. That was just $11 an hour. I’ve been denied jobs because of things I did in my teen years. I could only land a stable job working for my grandfather for $13 an hour, which is still not enough for me to get by on my own. The fact is, it’s not so easy to find a job, the state is overbearing, and people struggle to afford a living, especially today when wages have not kept up with productivity.

Are you aware that the FBI and CIA have co-sponsored, subsidized and sometimes even authored thousands of propaganda books, including anti-communist books, with the intention of swaying public opinion in foreign countries, in addition to toppling democracies, including when people elected socialists to lead them? Since the McCarthy era, there has been a concerted propaganda campaign to discredit communism, authoritarian or libertarian.

We are told to believe capitalists can’t afford to pay for healthcare, maternity leave, higher wages and tuition like they do in the democratic socialist countries. That we have the highest standard of living while we’re buried in debt.

What’s not fair is that the wealthiest 1 percent own as much wealth as the bottom 99 percent. They derived their capital from the poverty of the working class, by profiting from surplus value, or unpaid labor. A worker is returned a fraction of what they produce, and they can afford other things with their purchasing power, just not enough to buy the product they’ve produced

Capitalists privately own factories and fields for the sole purpose of making a profit. This is where wage labor was introduced. We have barely progressed from feudalism, because we still pay tribute to some capitalist, whether that be our employer and/or landlord.
