I have to disagree somewhat, I think these election results show that the country is a more deeply conservative place than I imagined it to be. To my chagrin, but it is what it is.
Part of that is the undue influence that rural, deeply conservative areas retain in our democracy thanks to the Electoral College and the Senate.
But that also doesn’t explain why 72+ million Americans pulled the lever for Trump. Trump and down-ballot Republicans outperformed the polls and that is pretty worrisome given how gruesomely his Administration performed. Only slightly less than 50% of voters are so deeply conservative that they just don’t care, or they’re so susceptible to right-wing propaganda that it doesn’t really matter what their values are.
That said, all that could be overcome and progressive policies could be enacted nationwide if coastal Democrats got off their asses and
Moved.

Heartland.
Since this unbalanced political system that gives Republicans an unfair advantage will never be reformed while Republicans have the ability to stop it, Democrats who really care about this must pick up and vote with their feet.
