One of the last Republicans who has maintained semi-independence from Trump. Of course, this makes him persona non grata to the rest of the Party.
But now that the head has been cut off the snake, maybe he'll regain some influence. It will be a loooooooong path back to a truly moderate Party, though. Maybe never.
The only Senator in U.S. history ever to vote to remove a President of his own party. That's not nothing. Essentially, the only Senator in our 230+ year history to have lived up to the Founders' idea that the impeachment of a rotten President could be something other than a hopelessly partisan affair.
Points deducted though for voting to confirm ACB. If he truly believed Trump was constitutionally unfit to hold the office of President, the natural consequence of that would be to vote against any nominee of that President, certainly a lifetime appointment.
Oh well. He still comes out way ahead of pretty much any other modern-day GOP Senator.
