Masks aren't going to do much if they're not social distancing either...that's the annoying thing. They lectured Trump about it for months and yet feel it's totally fine to do the exact same thing, and no one is calling them out for ignoring one of the most critical factors for transmission prevention in crowds that are concerned about COVID.

I am holding both sides to the same standard. The people in the photos of trump rallies are wearing less masks and standing close to each other. The people in the photos of biden rallies and blm protests are almost all wearing masks but not distancing. I am holding both sides to the same standards just one is absolutely doing better.

It's like if I got a test answer wrong and my friend got it right. I would be marked down and they would be marked up. We would be held to the same standard, just they did something better.

The thing is, I agree with you; from a purely safe perspective, the Trump rallies indeed had a far smaller percentage of people wearing masks than the Biden crowd. However, I absolutely know that if the tables had been turned and these scenarios reversed we would see the media absolutely roasting Trump's victory crowds and most likely talking less about Biden's rallies.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that if people want to gather in a crowd they should be allowed to do so. We're all adults, we all make our own decisions, and we all need to face the ramifications of those decisions. They should, after doing so, inform their employers that they were in a crowd, and if there was a measure that allowed employers to keep those employees away for two weeks without pay then I'd totally support that.

If there is no masks it's a super spreader. If there is no masks but social distancing or vice versa it's not the safest, but not a super spreader.

No, it's a complete violation of a very important COVID safety protocol by a massive crowd, which has always (according to those who are adamant about pandemic precautions) qualified as a superspreader. If you're going to lambaste the one side you have to be willing to call out the other as well.

I know that the protest isn't very safe because of the lack of social distancing. But if many people wear a mask, it's still unsafe, but not a super spreader. IN the trump rallied they are shoulder close to eachother, in much larger numbers than the BLM protests, and a significant lack of masks. That's a super spreader.

Trump's lawn party was called a super spreader, and that was smaller than a lot of BLM protests...the masks alone safeguard nothing. If you want to try and control the virus through public measures then all aspects of our current strategy must be taken into account.

Given the fact that almost every mask order has been accompanied by a social-distancing order, I will hazard that the health community stands by social distancing as an effective measure. Therefore all of these events are equally bad. In fact, given people wearing masks tend to often readjust them with hands, and then touch things, I'd hazard to suggest the Biden celebration had more potential transmissions than the Trump rally.

I could be wrong about that as I'm not a medical expert, but in the digital age everyone seems to consider themselves experts on matters after reading a few internet articles so I doubt I'm egregiously wrong.
