When the Republican Carpetbaggers descended on the South during Reconstruction, they were ruthless in taking the property of the rightful owners. They were cruel, haughty, corrupt. All-powerful, they were never held accountible for heinous crimes. That ingrained the Democratic party into the psyche of Southerners. They did what they had to do to survive. My greatgrandfather was a Democrat, my grandmother, my mother and I am a lifelong Democrat. But this Democrat party is rife with corruption: liars, cheaters, who accuse you of the crimes they commit.
