They are indeed. I fear for her mother's life. The CCP has a track record that indicates fivepossibilities:
- she'll be "disappeared" permanently, meaning executed
- tortured or starved to death
- released, but made an example of, meaning her home, money, possessions will be gone
- they'll admit they've detained her, and then do any combination of the above three to her family and friends.
- used a leverage against Dr. Li-Meng Yan, to force her to denounce her own scientific findings.
Number five seems to me to be the most probable outcome for the time being, as China is, at this point at least, still trying to pretend to be a member of the so-called civilized world community.
Needless to say, the CCP plays hardball in a softball world.
