It’s from a 1922 lecture about the non christianized origins of Halloween, Alvin Boyd Kuhn

Yea some of it implies some wild aspects that’s not about farming or harvest. The transformation and cycles of seed/plants and of the recycling of the souls. Other than humans, who or what elt’s gets the spark

A wonderful phenomenon for storekeepers to sell more stuff making more money in the process. Whatever it originally stood for has become irrelevant over the years.
Long live capitalism, eh?

it’s a really fun holiday!, as an October child, i never found anything more fun being able to be whatever i felt like, make stupid skeleton puns, and get paid candy for it!, my gramps (who is Christian) HATES Halloween saying it’s “the devil’s birthday” but honestly it’s a Dey where the living world meets the fun that is meeting some...

SPOOKY SCARY SKELETONS

(i just had to make a spooktober joke)

Fun for kids but these days it's got nothing to do with the original festivity of summer ending and winter beginning... That I could get behind... All the fairy and spirit stuff makes for great folklore even when you don't actually believe in any of it. But the modern Halloween... no thanks. It is a lot less annoying than Christmas or Easter though... 🤷

It's great because the police can't find me if I'm wearing a mask, and there are plenty of yummy kids

It's really fun!...but then people come up with racist costumes and it's not really fun anymore

I also like it because it's a holiday literally anyone can celebrate. It doesn't involve religion like a lot of holidays do, so you don't have to not celebrate it because of your religion.

All the fun!

The most exciting time of the year if course.

We dress as our inner selves, or inner monsters, and the festivities too! Camp fires, trick or treat, scary entertainment, and stories, all the stories!

Pumpkin flavored everything, amazing coffee.

Screams and giggles, perfect temperatures, decorations to die for.

Spending time with friends.

Halloween is best holiday.

I don't celebrate it anymore, but whatever. Having a day where you look like a freak for not wearing a costume is pretty cool though.

In my beliefs it is called Samhain, and celebrated as the end of the old year and beginning of the new.

I don't care too much about the origins and the religious side of it And I'm glad that for the most part It has been modernized to be something fun and a great "holiday" I just like scary stuff and candy But as you know 2020 hates happiness and sanity so that's probably canceled just like a lot of my hopes and dreams this garbage year!!!!!!

Something interesting that many people don't know is that Halloween is not some old, pagan holiday. Catholic Church invented the whole thing to try to convert pagans to Christianity. There were many idol-worshipping holidays that they (I think it was the celts, but I'm not positive if that is right. Might have been germanic people) had long ago, and the church wanted to end that. So, they made a holiday, named "all saints day" or "all hallows day" to praise the catholic saints instead of pagan gods. However, the best way to get people to celebrate a holiday back then was to make it more fun and drunk than the others. Because of this, they established the day before as "All Hallows Eve," when dead spirits would be allowed to roam free and, yes, everyone would get super drunk. It over time became more associated with evil spirits before the holy and all that, and the name was shortened to Halloween. There is way more to it that I couldn't possibly fit in this post, so if you are interested, it would be well worth looking up.

I believe it is not what it was originally. AND I think people take it way too far. Just cuz you dont get candy does not give you the right to egg or TP a house. I dont celebrate it because im jewish. I do Purim in the spring, and I think thats where Halloween got some ideas from but that may not be correct.
Sorry everyone, I just dont agree with it.
