The article itself shows the reality..

It says he preemptively paid 5mil over 2 years and that when he actually filed his returns it was less and so the remaining was rolled over into the next year's...

..which is a highly disingenuous way if saying he paid his taxes and was in credit ..

and here's the kicker... Either that means he's preemptively paid several lifetimes worth of taxes (if he was indeed paying 750 a year) or (as the article vaguely implies..) it's already gone, thus trump's taxes were 4-5million over the last 3 years..

Trump initially paid almost $95 million in federal income taxes over the 18 years. He later managed to recoup most of that money, with interest, by applying for and receiving a $72.9 million tax refund, starting in 2010.

The refund reduced his total federal income tax bill between 2000 and 2017 to an annual average of $1.4 million. By comparison, the average American in the top .001 percent of earners paid about $25 million in federal income taxes each year over the same span.

The $72.9 million refund has since become the subject of a long-running battle with the I.R.S.
When applying for the refund, he cited a giant financial loss that may be related to the failure of his Atlantic City casinos. Publicly, he also claimed that he had fully surrendered his shares in the casinos (but he actually retained a 5% stake).

In 2011, the I.R.S. began an audit reviewing the legitimacy of the refund. Almost a decade later, the case remains unresolved, for unknown reasons, and could ultimately end up in federal court, where it could become a matter of public record.

So he paid almost a million and a half a year (on average)..
Well that's certainly not $750

Also nobody should even be paying above a million a year. Absurd amount of money to pay out, ontop of sales and property tax +all the other hidden taxes

You know, all he has to do to prove them to be liars is release his taxes.

Srsly. That's all it would take. It would put jet fuel in his "fake news" story line, and every undecided voter would be voting for him.

Except he's never going to do that.

Because it's true.

President Trump has every right to the privacy of his tax returns is any other American citizen. There is no requirement in the constitution that he disclose them. End of story!

HAHAHAHA.

No.

Because he's the President, it's not the end of the story. He owes $300 million in personal loans to someone.

We don't know who.

Are you okay with someone having $300 million worth of a US President's ass? Sure, it's a big ass, but it's supposed to be 100% American ass.

'Cause that's a problem.

A quick look at his investments overseas and it's easy to see that Trump has been making decisions - sometimes strategic military decisions - based on the money he's taking in from other countries. $2 mil from Turkey over 4 years is no small number when you're as cash strapped as Trump is. The question is, do we want someone as personally financially vulnerable as Trump is to be running the country? Using America as his own personal financial leverage? I don't.

The stuff with Turkey and the other countries is the big flag for me. He's clearly using the US military and State Department to funnel even more money into his pockets.

How have you made it this deep into the thread and not know the context?

Here you go: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/09/27/us/donald-trump-taxes.html

But, seriously, how did you do that?

That says nothing about Trump using the US Military and State Department to funnel money into his pockets. So you are just making things up again.

Ah, okay, I see. You are the sort of person that needs the dots connected, and then the lines colored.

Okay. So. Trump has received between $1 million and $2 million from the Trump hotel in Turkey AND from Turkish envoy's staying at his hotel in Washington.

In 2018, US/Turkey relations were really bad.

They were attacking and killing our allies. They held an American citizen prisoner.

A Turkish group cancelled their big event at the Trump hotel in Washington.

Then a few months later, Trump says he's a Yuge Fan of Erdoğan! Then, out of nowhere, he withdraws US troops from Syria. Turkey is able to invade Syria without any problems from the US.

All of a sudden, that Turkish group reschedules its event at the Trump hotel in Washington AND Turkish airlines suddenly changes it's event to a Trump property in Virginia.

Turkey gets what it wanted, Trump gets money, and the US loses.

THAT is what I'm talking about. Not making ANYTHING up.

If you can provide sources for these events I'll agree that it is a conflict of interest and possible favoritism.

There’s a difference between financial disclosure statements that even senators and congressmen make and disclosing your tax returns.
1 up, 4y
Traditionally, every president releases their tax returns. It's a matter of public trust. If he doesn't want to release them, he's hiding something... from the American people. If this was a big ol' nothingburger why has he gone to such great lengths to conceal his taxes? There's something big there, something yuge.
