The attempt to impeach a sitting president in an election year set a new precedent as well. Not all precedents should be followed.

Because they don't have to. They have the Senate and they have the Presidency, that's all you need to appoint a jurist. The House has nothing to do with it so Shumer and Pelosi can't do anything about it but posture.

that's why we need a fair senate not flipped to one side.

Well, that was the Democrats fault. Back when Obama was in office, the Democrats had control of the Senate. In order to pass judicial nominations, you needed at the time 60 votes total to get them pushed through. If not, the other side could filibusterer. It was the Dems who got rid of the filibusterer rule and now only a simple majority is needed. We had a fair senate, but the Democrats took that away, so now it's majority rules.

we should change that then.

Good luck with that. The last thing a party in power will want to do, is give the other side more leverage.

the republicans have the leverage so we should take the leverage so that no side has it.

No, I think not. Democrats have already proved why they can't have nice things. Just accept President Trumps Supreme Court trifecta. You're going to get tired of so much winning eventually.

that was one bad thing that they did. Trump is corrupt and that's why he won even republicans have said so. oh you think I'm winning even though you said I was losing.

A political precedent was set when Republicans said we shouldnt pick a supreme court justice the election year

why is this one any different? A precedent is a precedent and you ought to follow it, or youre just like the person youre making fun of

The argument that is being made, was at the time Obama (D) was in office, while the Senate was majority Republican.
So in that case, the argument was made to let the next President (assuming Hillary) to choose the next jurist.
In this case, the argument they are giving is that since the President and the senate are both Republican, then they can choose whoever they want because they are already in power. And they can.
There's no law that says the President can't pick someone in their final year of office, and even Ginsberg herself stated (When Obama picked Garland and the senate stonewalled him) that the President has the right to choose, no matter if it's in the last year of their term or not.

Next time pick a better candidate to run (than Hillary). I think it's moot anyway, Biden can barely walk or talk and all this wokeness in media, sports and entertainment has poisoned the waters for a lot of people. Not to mention all the BLM riots. But hey, burn it to the ground, that's just turning more and more people away from the Democrats.

I never said there was a law. Theres a precedent. The same reasoning applies. If you cant choose a justice in an election year, than you cant a few months before. And friend the vast majority of BLM protests never turned into riots. In fact these have radicalized people to the left, away from democrats so I agree there.

Also, this has happened 29 times previously, where a President had the opportunity to pick a jurist during an election year. And guess what, all 29 the President chose a candidate.
So he is following precedent.
Even Obama selected a candidate. But it's up to the Senate to decide to vote on that candidate or not. So precedent has been followed.

Maybe you should just follow the Constitutional guidelines and not hang your hat on the drivel of self-centered politicians. You can quote judges and politicians from both sides of the aisle and it wouldn't mean a thing, because both sides say what is expedient for them at the time. That's why we have a Constitution. It's a standard when we're on shaky ground. And perhaps another question to answer right now would be, how would Democrats act if they had the presidency and the Senate right now? I think we all know how that would look, which is why no one is buying this sanctimonious bullshit the left is spewing right now. It's also the reason why Republicans are forging ahead at full speed; because they know if they lose the Senate, Democrats won't let anyone get through.
