Rant time...
The minute the authorities decided that the Constitution should be "Interpreted", not according to what it said, but what lawyers, bureaucrats and politicians claim it "ought to have said", the Constitution ceased to exist.
They will claim that the framers' intent was to say the opposite of what they said, and that the Constitution needs to be interpreted according to Hamilton's books, letters written by the framers, the Bible, the Quran, the Tibetan Book of the Dead, the Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy ... and in short every document in existence EXCEPT THE DOCUMENT THE FRAMER'S WROTE DOWN AND SIGNED THEIR NAMES TO!
I tried to explain this to a couple of Lefties some years ago, that if the Constitution could be allowed to be interpreted to say anything, then it said nothing. I was shouted down. Then some years later, one of them found the Constitution wasn't being interpreted according to his liking and vailed, "What happened to my Constitutional rights??". Well, he himself happened - along with a few million other sheep who thought the government would look after their interests.
