Notice how none of the libs have an issue with segregated anthems and the inherent division that causes. They always have been pro segregation. Maybe a lbtg anthem next?

What do you think the black national anthem is? A call for unity for all?

It’s a song about hope and survival. It’s been sung as a religious hymn for decades. Here are the lyrics for “Lift Every Voice and Sing:”

Lift ev'ry voice and sing
'Til earth and heaven ring
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the list'ning skies
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun
Let us march on 'til victory is won
Stony the road we trod
Bitter the chastening rod
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died
Yet with a steady beat
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered
Out from the gloomy past
'Til now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of of our bright star is cast
God of our weary years
God of our silent tears
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way
Thou who has by Thy might
Led us into the light
Keep us forever in the path, we pray
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee
Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee
Shadowed beneath Thy hand
May we forever stand
True to our God
True to our native land

I don't see anything the least bit offensive about the song. It's a hymn that was written over a century ago. Nothing for anybody to get butt-hurt about; anybody who is probably has other deep-rooted problems.

Thumbs up, I will too. I also have many friends and some die hard NFLers said they will not watch this fall which shocked me.

I have never supported the whole "company with a conscience!" idea. When the whole transgender bathroom matter vomitted up, Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam and Bryan Adams cancelled shows in NC. Nobody knew they were even still touring! It was just a way to boost ticket sales. I change the station when their songs come on now, and in the same spirit will not support the NFL catering to this issue. I know they will not even notice, and it will not change anything, but my values are my values and I stand by them.

Up vote 'Merica ... agreed. The last time the NFL pulled this crap my friends kept watching but now they are in mass saying no to this stuff. A bridge too far for many red blooded Americans.

If you go to a concert; the headliner is last. Each band plays their biggest hit last.

"America, The Beautiful" is sometimes sung before the NA; sometimes the Canadien NA is played before our NA. It's just show business.

Perhaps. But it is always one's choice regarding whether or not to attend.

Sure. I'm just saying, if your only caveat is the order it's played, than you should know that last is first.

Correct. And the National Anthem is considered the climax of the pre-game ceremony. Hence played last.

Yeah, you stupid f**king c**t. The national anthem is only for whites huh? As you virtue signal for the 'black' national anthem. You hypocritical libc**ts are disgusting.

It is. I have no problem with them adding the black national anthem, but the Star Spangled Banner, our national anthem must be played first. Anything less is disrespectful to our country. I live half the year without football; living a full year without it shouldn't present much difficulty.
4 ups, 4y
You have it backward. The National Anthem is always played last.
3 ups, 4y
Then they should also play Sweet Home, Alabama each game too!

Why is the national anthem played before a sportsball game so important to you? It wasn't even done until the mid-60's.

I just try to imagine being in the ER requiring immediate surgery to survive but then the doctors go "Right, please stand for the national anthem!" before starting their jobs. Car mechanics don't have to sing the National Anthem before their jobs. We don't have to stand for the National Anthem before watching a movie in a cinema. So what the hell is so important about a game of armegg that you have to do that every time?

No other country does this with their routine seasonal sports - for international games like the Olympics or World Cups sure, but not for the routine stuff.

Why is playing the Black National Anthem so important?

Who cares what other countries do? You can't lead by being part of the crowd.

This is my choice, the decision that *I* am making. I am not asking or expecting anyone else to do the same. I sure the NFL won't miss me. Some people protest by firing mortars at federal courthouses. I choose to protest through a peaceful refusal to participate. I'm not sorry it bothers you.

"You can't lead by being part of the crowd."

That's kind of what I'm asking, though: what do we get for leading the world in the Most Elaborate Sports Ceremonies for every high school game? What's the perk of that? Why is that something we want to beat the other countries at? We don't particularly go for Most Elaborate Chess Club Ceremonies. What's the difference?
