Tariffs technically amount to nothing. As the more money a Country needs to pays in tariffs the higher dollar amount the consumer is charged. That amounts to another American tax for Chinese goods.

Jeff Bezos will never pay taxes because there are too many loopholes in the tax laws. This goes back almost 100 years.The rich never pay taxes no matter what happens, they either evade them with loopholes or simply move out of the country.

Personally I'd have the first $20,000 of each person not taxed at all and then put a maximum dollar amount cap on the amount of taxes an individual pays. Tax cuts for the rich trickle down to savings for the rest of us in goods and services we purchase. I'd simplify the system so there is only a single tax law, but I'm not a republican. I identify as a Constitutional Libertarian (not part of the defunct libertarian party).

Tariffs cause the price of goods coming into the country to go up, usually they are calculated to make goods crafted in country to be competitive with goods coming into the country from outside. It acts as an equalizer keeping more of the money flow in the country. It has a net positive effect on the economy.

Implement tariffs to offset bad trade deals - Trump's Tariffs have bankrupted the US farming industry. China used to buy 80% of our soybeans, now they buy 0% and made a deal with Brazil. Trump Farmer Bailout has now cost almost 3x more than Obama bailing out the entire Automotive Industry, and no cure in sight.

Get out of any deals or treaties that are bad for the US. - Just say they're bad and your sheep supporters will believe you. Canceled Nafta and TPP, other countries formed their own trade deals without US in them.
