Again, I agree that it did not end abruptly. How can something end "suddenly" if it's been an hour? The word the press continue to use is "abruptly" yet this is not true. It certainly ended rudely, or after he failed to answer a question or two. But not "abruptly."
No, he did not ignore her. If he had, he would've ended the conference before answering the initial question or continued to answer the question to re-frame it as I have previously suggested.
Yes, he ignored the follow-up question but the damage had already been done when he mentioned China to an Asian-American reporter. There is nothing wrong with that, of course.
But when China had nothing to do with the question of why "he" thinks it's important to be "competitive" in keeping Americans "tested" or "alive"... again it seems easy to me.
Unframe the competition angle and say his priority is to get America through this. And it looked like he was going to do that but he couldn't.
In the end, he was simply too tired.
