Do we really get upset about promises anymore?

I mostly think that if they really do it/hold to it, that will be great and I'll be happy, but if they don't I won't care so much because I already expected it

I would. If it was something important and I thought they would really keep their promise, I would be very upset. They are betraying your trust when they break your promise. You trusted them to keep it and they didnt.

Only when I believe in them. I learned a long time ago that you can't trust most people to keep their promises, so I don't really take much faith in other people's word.

There's nothing I try to avoid more than making promises. I promised myself not to make any promises ever again, unless I am really sure I can keep them. Kind of a trauma.... People forced me into promises of which anyone with half a brain could know I'd never be able at all to keep them, no matter how hard I tried. An yeah, still I got scolded for that. So maybe you understand I hate promises. I actually loathe promises from the bottom of my heart.
