Didn't do well in math? That's ok - You haven't lost any standing, I didn't have any respect for you in the first place.
The way to compare countries when population sizes differ greatly is to use per-capita numbers. Divide the affected group by the size of the population, and you've got the per-capita number. Generally, that number is multiplied by 100,000 or 1,000,000 to get a more readable number (instead of a tiny decimal).
The USA deaths per 1 million population is 193
Sweden deaths per 1 million population is 256
Compared to countries that are having a really bad time:
San Marino: 1206
Belgium: 655
Andorra: 544
Spain: 525
Italy: 463
UK: 394
France: 373
Sint Maarten: 303
Netherlands: 280
