More people will die by being thrown out a window than COVID-19

When they take the new projection of 60,000 deaths as evidence of Covid-19 hysteria. No. It’s evidence that we acted | “LESS THAN THE FLU” ONLY BECAUSE WE TOOK THESE DRASTIC SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURES | image tagged in roll safe think about it,covid-19,flu,death,coronavirus,social distancing | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
And those measures are proving more effective than expected.

Hence the new revised projected death toll of 60,000 rather than the 100,000-240,000 originally predicted

Models that assumed no social distancing whatsoever projected 2.2 million American deaths

btw - Thanks Kyliefan for pointing out the fact they got projections wrong multiple times. You are not proving your point at all.

I hope one day you grasp this important point, because it explains all of the scientific breakthroughs that have occurred since the dawn of time

People thought one way, scientists discovered something, and then they thought a different way

Hope this helps

hmmm...but you choose to ignore the science of Stanford University (link above) who has been conducing studies on this with actual science (not your hyperbolic viewpoint of science)?

Why are you ignoring science? Its probably due to the fact this science doesnt fit your narrative. I hope you realize your hypocrisy some day.

I hope this helps..

Not sure that article changes anything.

I've already heard about the denominator problem. If we don't know how many people have been infected, then the death rate is indeterminate. That's a reason to be cautious, not careless, in my view.

If you have a better death projection, or a better strategy than mitigation through social distancing until the curve flattens and/or a cure or vaccine can be found and scaled up to mass production, let me know.

"only because we took these drastic measures"...you can't prove this and it's a logical fallacy known as post hoc ergo propter hoc, meaning because of this everything after this. You're saying that because of an action every result was caused by that action.

Great reply to the paid DNC troll.

Remember that Kylie and his buddies at the DNC rely heavily on models. But models are only as good as the assumptions made when creating them. And we all know what happens when we assume. Wrong assumptions = inaccurate models. They have a long history with this crap. Climate models have SUCKED WIND and consistently been wrong. Over and over. And over. These death predictions make all sorts of assumptions and have been wrong as well.

We should not be governed by models ... unless you want to live in a Minority Report type of world.

Humans absolutely suck at making accurate predictions but that doesn’t stop them from trying or making them. What sucks even more is Kylie and his ilk’s eagerness to destroy the US Constitution and the US economy in the hopes of getting rid of Trump.

I love how this has caught on

Anyway

If you have a better idea than social distancing, shoot.

What would you have done if you were President? Nothing? Urge everyone to stay open?

2.2 million deaths would have been the expected result of that. And I have news for you: That would have been devastating to the economy, too.

Actually no. We have infectious disease outbreaks every year. It's called the flu. And we don't shutdown the country, and it does go away.

No. I'm not saying that. I am saying every year we have an infectious disease outbreak and we don't have social distancing orders that do shutdown the country.

Octavia_Melody stop pretending you are an epidemiologist. You know, jack squat! You parrot what media talking points but ignore case studies. We know your type.

Dr. Fauci, Trump's own appointed expert on this, cites social distancing as the reason for the reduced death projections.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/fauci-touts-positive-effect-of-social-distancing-and-says-death-toll-could-be-more-like-60-000

Got anything that counters him?

Otherwise, you are just playing meaningless logical fallacy referee again

I have no need to counter Dr. Fauci, because he is not saying 1) the first model predicting two million dead was an accurate number, and 2) Fauci isn't saying that this is ALL credited to social distancing. And lastly, New York has more restrictive social distancing than California, and they started their stay at home order two days after California did. New York has the lion share of cases, and deaths. California meanwhile has 18million more people and far less cases. Clearly, social distancing alone cannot explain the disparity in cases between the two states. There must be other factors.

NY started stay-at-home two days *after* CA? Well, there’s one factor

Another one is that New York City is denser than most places in California — LA is super spread out, and SF could be much denser than it is, but it isn’t thanks to restrictive local housing laws.

Increased density = Harder to socially distance

The final factor I’d mention is that the outbreak may have started in NY earlier than CA. I don’t know that for a fact but it’s possible

None of these factors really call social distancing into question and in fact reinforce the need for it

Yes, dumb f**ky f**k. Two days. Two days is the reason for the disparity? Any evidence to support that?

"Another one is that New York City is denser than most places in California"

Look at you, using Common sense. Therefore we can say, that it's not plausible to say only social distancing is responsible.
0 ups, 5y,

Population density is necessarily related to social distancing

Density literally means how many people occupy a certain area

Oh my Lord...it took you two days to come up with that. And you're not anymore accurate than you were before.

I hadn’t realized you replied and was responding to someone else below when I came across this.

I can’t tell what you’re driving at here. You appear to be a Dr. Fauci critic yet you’ve presented no plausible alternative to social distancing, his signature policy.

I repeat, if you have a better idea for how to fight this than what Fauci and others are recommending, let me know

Like we fight every other respiratory disease? Without shutting down the country.

Epidemiologists disagree.. The best way to combat respiratory illnesses isnt by staying locked indoors. Delays the inevitable. Only leftists want this to shut down to remain...

Paranoia? Ha! I can name off multiple leftist governors in less populated states holding onto the shutdown for dear life. As well as, congressmen failing to reconvene to fund PPP. Nice try.

and the fact you cherry picked that ONE comment from everything else proves that facts are wasted on your types... how about coming up some real data, oh wait.
