Donald Trump their new hoax | image tagged in donald trump their new hoax | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
You and I have been over this. If you apply every benefit of the doubt to him: sure. It’s unclear and his words are a garbled mess as usual.

But you’re really reaching here

Whatever “this” means in this passage, it was still a dumb and tremendously cringey thing to say

It is not unclear. To anyone. Nearly ever liberal news agency and fact checking site has stated, emphatically, that Trump never called the virus a hoax.

It’s clear as mud as usual, as I said: but it’s also plain as day it was an attempt to downplay the impending crisis and shift blame to anyone but himself

His consistent lashing out at the press at his press conferences ever since then underscores that assessment

Said no one but you. Please explain how you are the only person stating the world is flat.

SARCASM COWBOY | THAT SPEECH AIN’T CLEAR AS MUD TO YOU? REALLY? | image tagged in sarcasm cowboy | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
It’s clear as mud. His words are not a model of clarity. They rarely are.

Now, if I accept your interpretation, then the meaning is this: Trump was merely calling coronavirus *panic* a hoax. “Panic” by whom? Democrats and/or the media.

Well, that still doesn’t get you out of jail free. He’s still clearly politicizing and downplaying it in front of his supporters as late as Feb. 28.

Since then, he’s changed gears a bit: he declared a national emergency over covid-19 on Mar. 13 and been highlighting his actions to respond to it (and Congress has passed a few bipartisan relief bills), but he’s still lashing out at the media at press conferences, and a lot of conservatives still haven’t caught up to the new narrative.

Harry Truman said “the buck stops here.” George W. Bush didn’t blame Democrats or the media when the towers fell on 9/11.

Trump’s garbled leadership is not the kind I or others are seeking.

Again, please explain how you are the only one who believes the world is flat.

Democrats were politicizing the virus well before Trump which explains his remark.

You wouldn't know leadership if it sat on your face.

It's clear why after the Mueller investigation hoax, the Kavanaugh hoax and the impeachment hoax why Trump would characterize the dems reaction as a hoax. Kylie is just being his usual disingenuous self.

If you read the same speech I did and it looks like good leadership to you, then I can’t help you

Nice you're half acknowledging the reality of what was said.

You are trying to change subject here. At best, Trump said the Dems and media hype was the new hoax.

THAT is politicizing the virus.

The media was politicizing the virus, hence Trump's comment. You can't claim it was Trump who started the politicization when liberals were complaining in January that Trump's Coronavirus panel was too white and lacked diversity. Sorry. Not sorry.

Nobody cares what color the panel was/is.

People will continue asking why S. Korea had an approved test Feb 5th and America was more than a month later.
0 ups, 5y
False, CNN thought enough about it to write an article bemoaning the lack of diversity.

Published Feb. 1. And again: Is a Washington Post writer someone the President should be taking his marching orders from?

The President has access to all sorts of sensitive classified information that the media doesn’t, yet his response to this emerging threat actually lagged the media’s.

Why? Here’s one theory: He thought the media panic was a hoax to unseat him or par with Russiagate or Ukrainegate.

But don’t take my word for it. Trump said it himself.

Schiff is already talking about an investigation over this AGAIN. So looks like Trump was right again. "Never let a crisis go to waste".

Not sure where 'he lagged the media'. This is an unprecedented event. A 'damned if he does, damned if he doesn't' moment for Trump.

Election interference vs. actually killing thousands or tens of thousands (or 100,000-240,000) Americans through negligence: Who would win?

Impeachment for one does not necessarily preclude impeachment for the other, but at this point, since impeachment has been shown to be constitutional dead letter anyway through the Senate's own fecklessness, likelihood is we voters will decide in November. Or whenever we get around to having the next election.

Admittedly, coronavirus is an unusually difficult situation, but those of us old enough to remember 9/11 (and I'm one of them) remember G.W. Bush's resolute leadership during those panicked days and how it contrasts with what we're seeing now.

Covid-19 is a slow-motion 9/11 and '08 financial crisis rolled into one that's hitting everywhere all over the globe all at once, only it's much worse than both of them put together and somehow we have a former reality TV star at the helm doing what he does best: holding daily press conferences and verbally defenestrating correspondents just doing their jobs.

What could go wrong?
1 up, 5y
Just doing their jobs? You mean as partisan dnc hacks?
0 ups, 5y
If you think we should go into what might be a depression that could last years and cost trillions of dollars, without an investigation, you are lost as an American.
0 ups, 5y

Yes, doing their jobs: Questioning the President rather than slavishly repeating his talking points.

Trump has his own paid shills to do that

This is how press freedom works

Don’t like it, move to Russia

Hope this helps

Are either of them the President?

Is the President supposed to take direction from governors and the Speaker of the House?

I thought that was called “leading from behind.”

Trump limits travel from China, leading from the front. Democrats reaction to his leadership? "Come on down to Chinatown"
1 up, 5y
Personally, I see nothing wrong with limiting travel from China. I have real problems with S. Korea having an approved test Jan 7 and America just gearing up testing now, when it's too late.

Trump did the travel ban, then wasted nearly 2 months doing nothing but bragging about it.

Exactly the kind of response you’d expect from a scientifically ignorant xenophobe

But that’s what the American voters wanted: a geographically well-placed minority of them, anyway

Y’all elected him, I didn’t, guess that's why I don't waste so much energy defending him
1 up, 5y
LOL...yeah, limiting travel from countries is unscientific, except scientist supported the policy and other countries follow.

But I understand why you are confused, CNN told you it was unscientific and xenophobic.
2 ups, 5y
Nope but their criticisms of Trump is worth exactly zero. Same with everyone using 20/20 hindsight to bash him.

Hey it was you who had trouble getting TP? Found it yet?

No, still not available locally. Pasta and bread, starting to come back onto shelves.

Got your ventilator Trump ordered mid-March and isn't due for arrival till Mid June?

Hahaha, same for me with TP. Pasta and sauces good, bread also but no plain flour still and most tinned stuff looks normal. I know this is may be a dumb suggestion but have you seen facial tissues in store as they seem to be back in as an interim for TP.

Luckily we're still working off the tp we had before this whole thing started. I went to the store this morning and they finally had some. Limit, one package per customer but at least they had it.

No pasta at all this morning. Shelves bare. I forgot to look for flour. This is messed up. They're talking possible food shortages this summer/fall. Farmers pouring milk on the ground because they can't get their stuff out. Crops ready for harvest in Florida, being tilled under because they can't get them shipped to the customers.
0 ups, 5y
Good to hear you having a little success. One per person is annoying when you would normaly keep something stocked that you never run out of.
To talk food shortages because we cant pick or transport raw material is ridiculous.
