Well, all eight legs are attached to the front part of the body - the "cephalothorax". So, it would definitely not be the first option. The second one could work but it would probably incapacitate a spider very much since they sense scent, sounds, and vibrations with their legs... 🤔

those "things" are pedipalps. Every spider has them, and they really are this big in tarantulas.

Dude, the are resting on the ground supporting weight like the other legs, not pedipalps.

Also note they are depicted without pants.
