No, you’re not being honest. His history says something different. The Prime Minister of Denmark called him out on calling his country socialist:

The Danish PM is right — Denmark is not a planned economy.

And guess what? Bernie doesn’t propose a planned economy, either!

But “socialism” in colloquial usage means something a bit different here in the U.S., as conservatives here never fail to remind us.

Universal healthcare? Socialism!
Rigorous environmental protections? Socialism!
Social Security, Medicare, other welfare programs? Socialism!
Any tax hike whatsoever, even on just the richest? Socialism!

If those things are socialist: then yes Bernie is a socialist.

But it’s clear Bernie’s not a “Commie” as OP meme and a thousand others like it here have claimed

He’s not.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.newyorker.com/news/q-and-a/how-socialist-is-bernie-sanders/amp

And raising taxes on the middle class is still not “socialism.”

In Bernie’s case, he wants to finance single-payer health care by replacing the health insurance premiums we currently pay with a smaller tax burden.

With health care reform along the lines of what some of these other (non-socialist) countries have, health care would cost 1/2 or even less of what it currently does in this country.

So, we can posit a hypothetical family currently paying $300/month in premiums would pay $150/month or even less in taxes under a single-payer system.

The only kind of person who wouldn’t take that deal is a person who irrationally objects to anything labeled a “tax.”

Obamacare neither slowed nor quickened the rise of health insurance premiums.

The ACA basically did nothing from a cost standpoint. Why? It was designed entirely with insurance company interests in mind

Sanders’ plan has a totally different outlook and approach. Single-payer would effectively destroy health insurance companies. That’s why they hate it, will never support it, and will spend every last dime in their lobbying budgets to oppose it.

Are you really posting about the cost of living while defending a candidate that would drive inflation up even MORE?
0 ups, 4y
What we're seeing isn't inflation. It's corporate socialism.

I've got news for you idiots. If you think all our problems are solved just because the orange man is in office, you've delusional and will be getting a surprise in November. We still have the same dwindling middle class we've had for 35yrs and the reasons why remain the same. A 50 thousand foot wall on our southern border isn't going to fix it.

Well Bernie is going to tax the middle class out of existence anyway.

The only surprise we will be getting in November is the turkey.

My co-pay for health insurance is twice my federal withholding. My family plan total cost is 28k. In case you haven't been paying attention, we're already pretty much non-existent anyway.

Not that I completely disagree with that...but you have proven to be a die-hard Democrat.
0 ups, 4y
No, I'm not. I've voted for both parties. Voted for Reagan. Voted for one Bush. Voted Obama twice.

Policy matters little. Right now, the right is not even right and has lost their conservatism ideology. Without it, there is little of value there.

I doubt any did. The ideology is just as important. The America of the past strongly instilled the belief that a primary job of those who succeed was to help prop up others, give them a footing to succeed as well.

They may not have paid 90% but I'm sure they paid more than 22% that most of them pay today on capital gains wealth so large it can't be taxed away no matter what the tax rate.

Rich people and corporations pay no taxes. Never had. Never will.
Income taxes were outlawed in the original Constitution until Congress saw an opening to pass an amendment to put the squeeze on us. It started small at first… Just one percent and only on incomes that would be today’s equivalent of $400,000. But Congress never sits still. Government never sits still. It is continually enacting laws that restrict something for some segment of the population. Since 1913 the purpose of our government has been to extract as many dollars from as many citizens as possible. Don’t believe me? Look at the evidence. We went from one percent to 90 percent in about 40 years. Congress is addicted to money. I’m not voting for anyone who will feed that addiction regardless of party or what all “freebies” he promises.

Evidence trumps ideology.

Then you proceeded to explain the American history of a vastly progressive tax rate on the wealthy.
