Mueller found that Trump and Co. colluded with the Russians. He just couldn't prove that they clearly knew it was wrong at the time. Flash forward to now where Trump's lawyer and the Senate admits that Trump did extort Ukraine and he was pressuring them to dig up dirt on his political rival, but that it's just not a crime. He's been guilty on all fronts. Not innocent, not exhonorated: guilty.

So no, we haven't been wrong about him. He's just been slimy enough to slither away from having to pay for his crimes. But trust me, one day he will do something that not even the most kompromised Senator will not be able to help him get him away with. I just hope he hasn't completely ruined the country by then.

The Senate trial wasn't a joke. The Senate did what was required by law of them. They are to use the evidence gathered by Congress. Congress did a half ass partisan job during their trial, the Senate merely used what was given to them.
And there was no obstruction. Innocent until proven guilty is our law. The law found not enough evidence to convict (and remember the 'evidence' was collected by the Democrat House). And if Congress really wanted those witnesses then they could have gone to court and forced those witnesses to testify. They failed to do so.

Vindmann went against his chain of command all to say his feelings on a subject. That is not the behavior of someone in the military that is tolerated. He cannot be trusted and so was removed. That's standard policy.

Innocent until proven guilty. You come across as being far more concerned about advancing political angle than you ever have about civility.
