Addiction is a disease, whether a rich white guy has it, or a poor black guy does. Our compassion should not be guaged by who has the disease, only that they have it. Lucky for Limbaugh, he hit his personal bottom, before he lost everything. Charlie Sheen is a rich white guy who appears to get special treatment. We try to understand that his addiction contributes to the behavior we do not like. We should try to understand that Limbaugh's disease contributes to his behaviors.

What gives you the idea that he won't accept treatment? He's never said any such thing.

If you're a liberal you should think about applying that standard to pretty much all domestic policy and see how many you're left wanting to pay for.

Anyone who wants to work their way out of poverty can do it. There was a time that I was homeless, I worked my way into an apartment with roommates - some times we didn't have enough money to pay for electricity and groceries so we shopped non-perishables. It took years, but eventually I paid for my own college and now I own a business.

Actually, I do feel sorry for him. I just decided to treat his news the way he would have treated it, if it was a liberal "celebrity," who was so "out there," and got sick. He would bring up their public prejudices, like I did with the feminazi statement. In spite of all of his bullying of those who have less than he does, and in spite of all of the hatred he normalizes through labeling, in spite of all the pain he causes others and seems to relish in, I hope he is spared pain. I hope that he gets medical care that helps him survive. I hope he learns something about compassion from this experience.
