You have obviously never read of the parable of the talents. Matthew 25:14–30

A summary, a rich master must take an extended trip. He leaves 3 equal amounts of money (known as a talent) to each of 3 of his servants. The first servant makes bold investments and greatly increases the value left to him (from 5 talents to 10). The second makes moderate investments, moderately increasing the value (from 5 talents to 9). The third is too afraid of losing the 5 talents, so he puts it away until the master returns.

When the master returns, he's happy with the first two servants, rewarding them. The third is punished for being lazy.

The bible encourages commerce, and building capital.
