I'm afraid the American public sees right through this partisan with hunt, based on no criminal activity, run through the House in a kangaroo court. I'm afraid the adults in the Senate are not going to indulge the partisan at any cost, juvenile delinquent Dems in the House and establish dangerous precedents for future Presidents of either political party.
I'm afraid you have a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome and your white hot hatred of President Trump has exposed your mental illness, lies and overall f**ked up brain.

This sounds like someone who is definitely not afraid of what would happen if these witnesses went on the stand

There really should be an opposite-word for “TDS,” because whatever it is you have it

I propose TDDS - Trump Defender Derangement Syndrome

Which makes sense, because the number of logical knots you have to tie yourself in and principles you have to compromise to actually defend this President is enough to make anyone’s head spin

There is a simple explanation for their behavior, of course.

He's guilty as sin and they know it.

Another self-loathing libtard, incapable of a coherent thought. Your brain is broken, too.
You are honest to God, mentally ill. Dumb as dirt, ignorant of the rule of law, immune to reality.

The opposite of self-loathing, hate America libtards who have TDS is "American Patriot".
Thousands of us were in Wildwood NJ last night, cheering on President Trump.
Enjoy the acquittal.

Oh yeah, that awesome NJ campaign rally he booked for himself this week as part of his packed schedule that compels him to be anywhere but sitting in the Senate chambers watching his own trial let alone on the stand testifying

Regardless of whether he’s winning or losing, this dude just takes a victory lap whenever he wants doesn’t he

Like yesterday, when he fit in a historic meeting and agreement with the Israeli Prime Minister?
You know, squeezed that accomplishment in BEFORE his wildly successful rally in New Jersey?
Like today, when he signs the USMCA that took a year longer because Pelosi hates America and was playing partisan politics to the detriment of her constituents and the rest of the nation.
It's not like you can take a victory lap if you don't have ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
Something you know nothing about -- accomplishments.

Yeah, he's just "keeping busy" for appearance sake... more brain dead MS-NBC talking points.
Trump keeps racking up accomplishments while the Dems keep beating the dead horse of a sham impeachment. The voting public is paying attention and will reward Trump in November.

Good boy! You’re regurgitating those FOX news-approved talking points about his schedule this week quite well indeed.

Trump could have just skipped Davos (which is for globalist elites anyway), and signing a bill takes about 10 seconds of his time. None of that other shit has to get done this week and certainly not the campaign rally.

Trump clearly has time to watch the proceedings from home and tweet about them, so yeah at least bothering to show up in person in the Senate for a few hours or even a whole day would be a nice gesture

But what he really needs to do is answer these charges under oath rather than haphazardly and self-servingly via Twitter

Just when I think you hit rock bottom stupid, you always manage to dig a little deeper.
Wow.
Put the crack pipe down, you've had enough.

In a civil and (certainly) criminal context, the Defendant’s presence at trial is mandatory. This rule is about ensuring fairness to the Defendant, most of all.

And as a defense lawyer, I would be a fool not to force my client to attend the entire trial to watch exactly what was said by the opposing lawyer and every witness, so that my client can be prepared for what might happen when he or she is called to the stand.

It is also about showing to the jury that my client is a real person who cares about the case, and will be affected by the jury’s decision one way or the other.

After digging for about 5 minutes, I’m not finding any information about whether prior U.S. presidents who were also impeached attended their own Senate trials, or for how long.

I do know for a fact that Clinton at least testified in a deposition. Trump hasn’t even done that.

So, no, I’m not smoking a crack pipe. But thanks for that latest round of ad hominem insults.

Read the transcript. It is the official record of the interaction.
It's all the evidence anyone needs to make up their minds, as the rest of this is a fishing expedition and kabuki theater intended to damage Trump in public relations.
Impeachments are about criminal activity, not politics, not public relations.
The Dems made it about politics. They will pay dearly come November.

And if you believe otherwise, you are an idiot. (You've demonstrated THAT beyond a doubt.)
Calling it an ad hominem attack doesn't magically erase the fact you're still an idiot.

The Zelensky transcript is bad enough on its own, but testimony and documents adduced in the House impeachment hearings indicate it was just one data point in a months-long pressure campaign.

Imagine Obama called up the President of France and asked him to open up an investigation on Trump’s kids on the basis of sheer rumors the year before an election.

You guys would be hysterical. And would be right to be.

What did Obama do instead, when presented with verified evidence that Trump’s campaign was in contact with Russians months before the ‘16 election?

He kept it under wraps. Even while HRC was getting pummeled over emails. Why? Obama didn’t want to be seen “interfering in an election.”

Hindsight being 20/20 — Maybe he should have! Because our current President sure likes to.

But in a sane world, Obama made the right call. And hopefully we can return to that kind of world soon.

Time for me to straw-man you again because the vagueness of your silly broken-up reply leaves me no choice.

How *does* impeachment work, then?

We go along with the Administration’s every assertion of privilege, call no witnesses, whinge at each other for a few days based on an incomplete House record previously decried by the GOP as hopelessly biased against Trump, and then take a party-line vote and pretend it was a fair trial?

We see things differently, it is true. And so do many others. That is pretty much exactly why we have parties, and have, ever since pretty much the day after Washington took his oath of office.

But despite the dire predictions of whatever right-wing talking heads and conspiracists you’re listening to these days, war ain’t gonna happen.

There are adults in the room called the “deep state” — also known as “the state” — as well as patriotic professionals in our armed forces who will ensure it never comes to that.

Your own hyperpartisanship is showing again and this time it is more embarrassing than usual

I agree with him to a point. I suspect that when he sees purple he might actually believe it's green. And I suspect many of those who see green are eager to kill those who see purple.
