I have said it before, and I will say it again:
there is an ideological civil war happening within the democratic party.
on one side you have the old guard,of neo-lib corporatists.who have become addicted to big money donors.
on the other you have an insurgency of progressives, leftists and social democrats.who are pushing for money out of politics by only funding their campaigns with small dollar, single donations.
this is a GOOD thing.
our political system should be adversarial, even within the parties.the republicans had the tea party put a check on their greed 10 years ago.now it is the dems turn.
old guard:biden, buttigieg, klobachur (and ostensibly warren, who has consistently backed off her prior campaign claims to get more in line with the leadership).*seriously, warren is weak and lacks political courage.
new guard:sanders,tulsi,yang.
(if you doubt this, just check out how the media portrays these three.the establishment is terrified of these candidates).
new category:billionaire class simply purchasing votes with their mountains of cash.
steyer and Bloomberg.
but pirate has a point, but it is my opinion that it is the old guard utilizing this weak sauce tactic.
just my .02
