There is absolutely no comparison with the illegals crossing the northern border to those crossing the southern border. That's assinine.

The U.S.-Canadian border is the longest border in the world.

The Mexican border is a bit shorter than that.

But: it is still so long that it is impractical to wall. The GOP didn’t do it when they had unified control of the federal government for 2 years, and they never will.

Most border crossings occur at major population centers (i.e. cities), or airports in the middle of the country. Not the middle of the desert.

The comparison is apt.

“The wall” will never be built. Good game.

Yes, and not of any concern, yet. Wait until a terrorist cell crosses.

A bit? lol c'mon on.

Yes, Trump was beset by RINO f**ks that were funded by the Koch bros of the world.

So you advocate for tighter regulations on green cards and the like?

Saying there's no need for border control because people overstay their visas is not an argument.

Trump will probably have 5 more years. Starting to think you welcome illegals and want a pathway to citizenship because they vote about 80% dem.

I support a pathway to citizenship because 10-12 million people in this country living, and working, in a shadow life where they can be more easily exploited, when research says they pay more taxes than they receive in benefits, is unconscionable.

Illegal immigration is... yes... illegal, but it’s really not as scary as we’ve been told to believe.

So many industries rely on it, frankly. Demonizing these people at the absolute bottom rung of our social ladder is insane.

Legalizing them (eventually, over a period of years or decades) is the humane solution.

A lot of them are socially conservative and could be Republicans. I don’t care how they vote.

Try 30 - 40 million. Your data is 30 years out of date. I heard that in the 80's lolol

Is this data wrong?

30-40 million would be 10% or more of our entire population.

Where are you getting your numbers.

What about 'illegal' don't you get? You think there's true numbers? A Harvard study surmised 24 million two years ago. I'm older than you, I remember that same number talked about for decades. Decades. I personally would guess 28 - 34 but 40 is possible. Remember where you heard it first. The border jumping increased with Obama's gestures and Trump threatening to close it entirely with a wall. Then you have 'refugees' claiming asylum, from the great south American war I don't hear about, not going to the first safe border, but Trump changed that back to where you do now.
2 ups, 5y
More than a TENTH of those in the US are illegals? That is simply impossible. They're not even that many in NYC, where Mexicans are expected to be the largest nationality in a couple of decades.

Border jumping did not increase with Deporter-In-Chief Obama's 'gestures,' they decreased, and for a very simple reason which is why they have been on the increase lately despite Trump's propaganda - the economy. Illegals do need to pay the bills, not just here but for their folks they send money back to. Can't do that when jobs availability severely declined on account of the Great Recession.

So-called 'refugees' are a load of bunk, they're just economic migrants, just like those in Europe. Those fearing local crime should do something about it or seek asylum the first country they get to, which sure don't entail traversing 2000 dangerous miles of Mexico.

As for Kyle wanting to give them a pathway to citizenship, yeah right. Then we have to prep for a new wave from who knows where because picking fruit and scrubbing toilets for below minimum is something citizens just don't do.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/insights.som.yale.edu/insights/yale-study-finds-twice-as-many-undocumented-immigrants-as-previous-estimates%3famp

Here’s one example of what you’re talking about. This source suggests 22 million, which is twice the generally accepted estimate, but still about half of what you said.

I haven’t delved super deep into the methodology and admit I am not an expert in the field.

But I would say the fact that researchers on this very topic are still this un-confident, to the degree of 10 to possibly 40 million, is insane... and only goes to show how in the shadows they are.

Yep, I mistook Yale for Harvard.

Look, you don't have to believe it but consider the possibility, is all i ask.

If we can’t account for up to possibly 30 million people in this country, that is insane.

The fact that you view these borders and border security in terms of race is a reflection on your own racist views and need to frame such in racist terms.

Your lame delflection still can't conceal your racist worldview.

We discussed this last month about Muslims.
You have the incessant need to categorize people according to assigned colors which don't even apply

- other than to suit your patronizing hypocritical self-appointed spokesman for 'POC' urges.

Like that comment, "What, no upvotes" with a link?
Oh wait, that was you.

I can see you're switching from your former pass/aggr to more outright triggered ad hominems in recent days.
This pleases me.

Do carry on.

You are talking about the time I deployed this “followers” meme template — made by a fellow ImgFlipper whom I admire — to comment on the ironic contrast between the number of upvotes garnered by memes presenting a nuanced analysis of the Iran issue, vs. those memes presenting simplistic, patriotic, and warmongering messages

I was making a point about a viral political topic, generally directed at the ImgFlip political community and, by extension, a reflection of the American reaction to the Soleimani killing at large

This was a political point. Not an upvote beg

You however came into my comments and throttled me, directly, with insanely aggressive upvote-begging for your inane comments, disguised as a request for simple “courtesy”

I have even deigned, on occasion, to give you said meaningless expressions of courtesy!

I’ll do so again! Here’s an upvote!

That was an upvote beg

No, I'm not talking about a template, AND YOU KNOW It.
I read no further.

That's a bad habit you got there, twisting what others say or claiming they said what they did not say. And that's been pointed out many a time by others, so skip the too-stupid-to-know-otherwise dance - you're just TOO GOOD at it.

Your bitter tears are a delight, and SJW tears are the bitterest. Phil Donahue aspirations backfiring and getting rejected by those you pretend to champion will do that to your sensitive feelz.

Oh, believe me, I'm quite aware you're not talking about a template. I'm quite aware you blew past all the context of that meme and its entire political point to find any way to accuse me of upvote-begging.

Who knows why? In an effort to drag me down to the same plane of ImgFlip troll existence that you inhabit? In an effort to get a rise out of me, as you yourself admit is your goal in virtually every comment you make to me?

I can only speculate.
1 up, 5y
I'm getting you to expose you for what you are.

I get trolls to troll themselves.

Now go ahead and call me racist while lecturing me on what you claim is MY race and the hatred WE get from the 'those people' on 'that side,' Donahue.

I'm quite happy to be proven wrong in that prediction.

The Iranians saved all our asses with their cutesy missed missile strike. Not at all what I or anyone else was expecting.

Cooler heads on their side prevailed, and the immense public pressure against Trump right here in America stopped Trump from going further

What happens when you speak out against WWIII? Turns out: You just might stop WWIII!

Not just me, mind you, but me and everyone like me.
1 up, 5y
They didn't miss a passenger plane with 178 mostly Iranians on board now, did they?
But of course, in your 'non'-racist mind, they naturally value Americans more than their own, so intentionally missed, yes?

The pressure on Trump was from Goverment and Military officials, not the public, of which a significant number are still aching for payback for 1979.
And no one was talking about a World War III that was nowhere near happening other than propaganda bots like you, so shush.
