Don't forget property rights. Those had been trampled on too, by England, so it was important to the founders to ensure those as well.

well then, if youre so vehemently for protection of the individual, why is universal healthcare, a system that would definitely protect individuals, be so bad for protecting individuals?

Wasn't the healthcare "choice" talking point manufactured by health insurance companies who were scared to get axed by universal healthcare...?

private healthcare is SOME individuals, universal healthcare is ALL individuals, rights are literally being expanded to less fortunate people, not taken away from even fortunate members of our society, as it happens with privatized insurance

universal healthcare would give people access to healthcare for those who cant afford it now, the current system costs more than any other system in the world, and our life expectancy is comparatively lower, and millions less people are properly insured than in other countries. if that is 'protecting individuals', then god help us

lol that kind of stuff is lies peddled by insurance companies to try and keep the american public opposed to medicare for all
i can google satisfaction rates from surveys and scandinavia has incredibly high satisfaction rates, 'nightmares for anyone and everyone' is false as hell
america has similar (but lower) numbers, however when you look at more specific data, the satisfaction with coverage (how much the insurance company protects you from the costs) is severely lacking

maybe if your argument went about actually trying to prove me wrong instead of saying 'your wrong and saying that isnt a good comeback means you lost the argument' i wouldnt be so confident

and yet im winning the argument :/ is 'youre not experienced' really the best that can come from the medicare debate? because there are a lot of very experienced people who also share the same views as me

pretty much all the problems in universal healthcare are all caused by a lack of proper funding, usually because conservatives cut the funds and then refuse to acknowledge what they did. the fact that people in sweden are the happiest people in the world isnt a coincidence, their strong social net makes them feel at ease
america could feel at ease too, if the government stopped yanking the fat juicy cock of big pharma and the insurance industry and gave the people what they deserved

i understand those things well enough to know that healthcare would work if we put our politicians on the spot when they do it dirty, and who says human nature is some concrete thing that can be understood every time? some people are more empathetic than others, for example, shown best in how some people hear the stories of americans without insurance and think 'something needs to be done' while others think 'it's just laziness that makes this stuff happen'

I don’t want the government getting in between me and my doctor. You people like to say things like health decisions are between a person and their doctor yet you want the government running our healthcare.

free healthcare doesnt mean the government takes away your doctor ?? it just means that the government supports the costs so you dont have to avoid your doctor because youre too poor to see him

Actually the NHS was the one thing Margaret Thatcher wouldn’t touch when she was PM. The conservatives in the UK have made it a point never to touch the NHS. Not take one penny from it. So you’re lying.
0 ups, 5y
your evidence is one pm (which isnt entirely true) and youre just gonna ignore how the tories today are trying to privatize the nhs and have voted for all these budget cuts over the past decade?

But “if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor”, right??

A boy with cancer died recently in the UK because the government refused to allow the Pope to pay for his treatment, which would have been lifesaving.
0 ups, 5y
i cant find that specific story, but i am seeing a lot of stories about people dying in the uk that are similar, and that really is unfortunate, but it isnt because of the healthcare being free, it's mainly due to tories being harshly opposed to the nhs, loving to slash funding and the like,it's kind of interesting to learn that not everyone is actually covered by the nhs

it's not too anecdotal to say that the nhs needs more funding, which could save lives, privatization of healthcare is purely rich people being greedy
looking up hospital deaths in norway only seems to pull up anecdotal mishaps where a doctor uses the wrong medicine by mistake
