In addition to being dumb, war with Iran is simply not feasible. | ANYONE WHO IS ADVOCATING WAR WITH IRAN BASED ON THE EVENTS OF THE PAST FEW DAYS SHOULD CONSIDER HOW WE FARED IN IRAQ, AND THEN CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:; 1. IRAN IS OVER 3X THE SIZE OF IRAQ. 2. IRAN HAS 2X THE POPULATION OF IRAQ. 3. IRAN IS MUCH MORE MOUNTAINOUS THAN IRAQ, WITH FORBIDDING TOPOGRAPHY. 4. WE HAVE NO WORLDWIDE "COALITION OF THE WILLING" THIS TIME. WITH THE POSSIBLE EXCEPTION OF ISRAEL AND SOME GULF STATES, NO ONE ELSE IS GOING TO FOLLOW US INTO WAR WITH IRAN. 5. THERE IS SIMPLY NO FEASIBLE WAY OF GETTING AMERICAN TROOPS TO IRAN. WE HAVE NO ALLIES BORDERING IRAN WHO WOULD BE WILLING OR ABLE TO HOST A MASSIVE INVASION FORCE. OUR CURRENT RELATIONS WITH TURKEY ARE ABYSMAL, AFGHANISTAN IS A MESS, AND IRAQ WOULD NEVER ALLOW IT, SINCE THEY ARE AS PRO-IRAN AS THEY ARE PRO-AMERICA. 6. MOST IMPORTANTLY: THE AMERICAN PUBLIC DOES NOT SUPPORT WAR WITH IRAN. THERE'S BEEN NO FORMAL DECLARATION OF WAR OR EVEN AUTHORIZATION OF USE OF FORCE BY CONGRESS. | image tagged in iran map topography, world war iii, iran, trump, iraq war, afghanistan | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

More reason to not allow them to get the upper hand. More reason not to ignore their attacks! If you give into a toddler and give them the cookie, he will never eat his dinner! Stop thinking like a 5th grader!

DID YOU JUST COMPARE IRAN TO A TODDLER? AND ACCUSE SOMEONE QUESTIONING THE NARRATIVE OF THINKING LIKE A 5TH GRADER? | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
you should replace Pompeo as sec of state.
your assessment and in-depth understanding of the complexities and nuances of the situation are dazzlingly impressive.

Iran is the 2nd oldest country in the world. It had been around for millenia, not centuries.

Hell, when they got started, your ancestors were living in holes in the ground with bundles of reeds to cover the entrance.

No one is saying ignore their attacks. We defended our Iraqi Embassy and had the right to do so. There have been tit-for-tat attacks and airstrikes in Iraq against Iran-backed militias, including a recent one which killed dozens and has been theorized as the proximate cause of the demonstration on the Embassy (pro-Iranian demonstrators, but were they literally ordered by Iran?).

Assassinating their #2 leader, however, is a dramatic escalation, and we will almost certainly see reprisals from Iran. Which will naturally create the pressure for further retaliation from us. Americans in the Middle East are less safe today than they were yesterday.

Trump's order significantly ups the risk of spiraling into all-out war, without any public debate or Congressional authorization whatsoever.

Are you privy to military intelligence? Do you know if there was no good reason to kill this general? No, you don't know anything except what you hear on your favorite MSM. Trump did not strike the general with no good reason! And, he did not do it without first being alerted by high ranking military officials WHO ARE privy to such intelligence. They had something of upmost importance to sound alarm and ask permission for a strike. Trump relies on and trusts our military generals. Obviously you do not!

You don't know the "military intelligence," either. You are assuming, placing blind faith in the trust of a POTUS who has repeatedly claimed he "knows more than the generals" and has also alienated other top generals with his belligerent approach to diplomacy including, perhaps most famously, "Mad Dog" Mattis.

The Commander-in-Chief calls the shots. If POTUS orders a military strike, then the generals are expected and required to carry it out. (Unless it is a patent over-the-top blatant violation of law, like an atomic strike on Paris or an order to gun down rows of innocent captured women and children)

Trump ordered the assassination of an Iranian official who has been described as the equivalent of Secretary of Defense, CIA Chief, and other top generals. If Iran did the same, we'd retaliate.

So, you think TRUMP alone deemed this general a menace and ordered the military to strike him!? LOL You are brain dead! Military intelligence reported to military high ranking officers, them met with the Supreme Commander (Trump) and suggested their plan to strike. Trump approved it because he gives high credence to our Generals. How ignorant to think Trump just acted alone in this.

That is only one possibility. Or: Trump’s Generals could have explained the risks of this course of action and cautioned vigorously against it. But grudgingly accepted the order because it was a political judgment and not a clear-cut violation of law.

Neither you or I were in the room when it happened.

If this results in war, then what went on in that decision-making process is going to be a part of history.

Well, that has already been debunct by the military debriefing. Watch something other than CNN.
