"You’re going to need some citations for those sweeping claims there"
You're going to need to learn the definition of sweeping claims. By the way, this Just a friendly reminder. The topic of discussion was comparing Nixon's impeachment to Trump's. Far be it from me to think you were intentionally committing a Red Herring fallacy. You weren't, Were you?
"Civil rights” monuments?"
Nah, I meant civil war.
"I’ve only ever heard about controversies involving Confederate monuments."
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
"Which is fair."
Fair according to what objective standard?
"The Confederacy was a bunch of traitors against the flag."
They sure were. They were also Democrats who started the Klan, Jim Crow segregation laws and fought against every major piece of civil rights legislation - which is precisely why these monuments should stay up. To remind us of the racist past of modern Democrats who want people to forget it.
"We do not need to celebrate these traitors’ “accomplishments” "
You're right, we don't need to celebrate them, but we do need to remember them and how Democrats shifted from enslaving blacks on plantations to enslaving them in modern times in inner-city ghettos.
"160 years later if the public does not want to. "
Why say " public" when it's only "progressives" pushing for this?
"Taking a founder’s face off of a piece of coinage is immaterial. "
Not in regards to preserving our history and heritage it's not. Immaterial according to what objective standard?
"I assume you are talking about Hamilton and the $10."
Yes, that, and the movement to take Andrew Jackson off the $20 and replace it with Harriet Tubman.

"Well, that plan was nixed thanks to the popularity of the musical."
It'll be back. Liberals are committed to destroying our history, heritage, and constitution.
"Nobody is going to remove Washington or Lincoln or even Grant."
Not right now they won't. There'd be too much resistance to it, but over time once they erode more freedoms they will. It won't stop them from trying. They'll do some tests to see where the public is at, then be back at it again.
"Removing founders from history books would be troubling if true but I’m not aware of any such plans."
That too was a mistake. I meant mischaracterizing, not removing.
