I agree that their true motives are unclear. But to step into the mind of a Dimocrat and try to figure out their endgame is something I'm not going to spend too much time on.
It's probably something so whacky, that it can't be thought of by a rational and intelligent person... or by me.
Before the end of Trump'x next turn, there will be two more elections. I suppose they're going to put the articles of impeachment on ice, hoping upon hope that they can win back the senate. While possible, that's about as dimwitted of an approach as the Dimocrats have taken in quite some time.
The Constitution does say that "...no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present." So, maybe their plan is to hold a midnight session with mostly Dims (and a few Rinos) making a quorum, and convict him that way?
If I'm on Trump's legal team, I start investigating any legal recourse to force Pelosi to move the articles over to the Senate before the election, including filing suit. As we've seen with the bogus legal tactics employed by the left, lawsuits don't need much merit if you can find a judge that agrees with you. Once it's in the courts, it should go all the way to the Supreme Court, since there's likely no precedent. By then, maybe Ruth 'Darth' Bader Ginsburg will have retired (I wish death on no one...) and it'll be a slam dunk. While the constitution does not specify a time limit between the House impeaching a president and the Senate trying a president, it seems to my non-legal mind that if even a common criminal is entitles to a swift trial, a president should have that same right.
The bottom line is they're doing EXACTLY what they said they wouldn't, and should never do with an impeachment, which is politicizing the hell out of it. As per usual, they can't even follow their own rules when it suits them to do otherwise. Pathetic.
